ECU module programming guide using FDRS

I don't think he knows how to answer that. First time using FDRS. He was on Sync 22146, so it must have gone through.

@PizzamanJon Time to go back to work with the updates. Maybe driving the truck charged up the battery enough. As was mentioned before, when it gets cold, that battery is going to struggle, so get it now or get it later.

Gonna start more updates now. Should I delete the files on the usb drive after each update?

Yes, but only after you plug the USB in computer and FDRS verified successful install.

I just leave the files on there until I'm doing the next USB update. Then a quick format to blank drive when the FDRS prompt comes up to say it needs USB drive.

In his case, he had already disconnected the laptop last night when this started to happen. Not sure if FDRS can verify the files now or if the truck has to sync with Ford. PTS shows his truck is on Sync 21233 right now, so I think he might be good to go. I'll defer to the experts, though

Hmm well I'm curious what the experts say then. I assume FDRS is capable of reading file versions on modules if Forscan can do it. Not sure if it actually does that at any point though.

I'm sure when he gets back and does a network scan in FDRS it report the new APIM files.

I disconnected the mongoose but left the laptop and fdrs software right where it was. I was able to verify the update on fdrs!! It went right into TCU updates after verification.

I really want to thank everyone for all their help. I know I’ve posted a ton over the last 2 days and I hope it hasn’t been to annoying, I just want to make sure I don’t mess anything up. I’ve never done this before so it’s a whole new language for me. Genuinely appreciate the help!

Remember 2 calendar days for license so if you buy on 2nd, you can use on 2nd, 3rd, and 4th until midnight.

Sometimes people report modules showing up for updates after a few hours so I always check again on that third day to be sure.

Did you format the USB to exfat again before putting the TCU updates on it? If it still had the files from the APIM update on it, then hit no.

Yes I did, after APIM was verified and the truck started the TCU and then instructed me to insert usb into computer. So I plugged the usb in, formatted it verified it was empty then continued in fdrs. When I started the APIM it said it was a multi module update. Could it have done it already?

Yes! That is the equivalent to OTA 2.6.0 that updated both the APIM and TCU. I think you're good to go.

Validation failed. Reprogramming in progress. I formatted the USB again and it’s redownloading the data to the USB.
