ECU module programming guide using FDRS

PTS records every key-stroke done with FDRS. At dealers, the service department will have a few laptops with FDRS that are shared by all the techs, so it will not show a specific tech name as it is a yearly license(s) bought by the dealer and not an individual. So yes; if I can see that, then Ford can see that, too.

I searched but didn't see a note on this: Maybe it's because my truck is a '22, but I updated DDM and did not need to re-initialize – one-touch up/down were working after the update.

Well, I wish I didn’t miss your post before.. I DO need to do this, mines a 21. I figured it was a simple switch up down thing and didn’t look in fdrs. Now also should note for the record I didn’t loose any of my forscan changes when updating

I never thought I'd say it on this Powerboost, but I'm not so sure I will be quick to mess with my drivability. It's pretty sweet now. I think I will need to KNOW what this update addresses.

It's quite ridiculous that Ford doesn't provide a detailed summary of what each update entails, changes, and includes.

You get the "preparing you for future updates" generic message after it hits OTA. ?

I just used FDRS last week so I'm curious what would be hitting this week. I'll wait for it to (hopefully) update OTA. I manually installed IPC last week so I should unstuck until the next OTA IPC update fails to install.

Most of these types of updates don't install via OTA (ABS, PCM) as far as I know

Oh, well unless it does something important I'm still not rushing to get my wallet out.

I thought it was said that DSP updates were not supposed to be OTA capable too, but then people started getting it.

Not knowing how it all works but I don't see why they can't update every module. If I can download update to laptop then install it, the truck should be capable of doing the same thing.

PCM updates, in my opinion, transformed the drivability of a 2021 Powerboost after about 3 of them.
Especially the 10r80 transmission.

But as stated earlier, I'm so happy with my current truck, I'm reluctant to mess with the pcm, unless it's something I know is being addressed.

Not sure if this needs to be done, but if you do update the PCM should all “tuned” trucks be returned to stock before doing a PCM update? Probably best to do so to be on the safe side???

I spoke to Livornois about this. As long as they don't change the strategy, the tune will remain intact. If the strategy does get changed, they will send you a new tune to flash to get your tune back.

I don't know about other tunes/tuners, but that is they told me when I bought mine from them.

I keep waiting for that update that all of the other updates have been preparing us for. We've already had several updates supersede other updates that were preparing for future updates. I've come to believe that's just their generic update response. We're never going to get THAT update that all other updates have been 'preparing' for.
