If you fixed 1.7.4 yourself, how did that not worry you about warranty?

And although I in no way would predict what Ford or a dealership might do or not do regarding FDRS logs showing non-dealership licensed use of FDRS, there hasn't been a single report of it being frowned upon that fellas got Bluecruise to work in their driveway when Ford's official warranty representatives failed.

I really do hope all goes well with your truck in the hands of the folks you already seem to be miffed with, because you are a good guy and your truck should be operating properly. And maybe you actually do need a new APIM. But they still would be my last resort, warranty or no warranty. And it's their doing for me feeling that way about my truck.

they weren't really my first resort, but one aspect was the time. i didn't want to wait 2 weeks to see if fail. the 1.7.4 issue was common and this thread had the how-to. like i said, i haven't seen any posts about this yet and didn't want to gamble with the might when he had said it probably needed a new apim. i had just asked if it was possible that anything we try would cause grief if i did end up having to take it in. that's all i asked. i figured he knows his stuff, and we'll just cut out a step trying to fuck with it and that way it's all on ford, and hopefully sooner. the truck is still our primary vehicle and my wife actually drives it more so i want it fixed asap. not to mention trying to work out our schedules and make treks across dfw during rush hour. it's all good. I'm sure it'll get fixed, i just hope it's as headache free as possible.

Jesse_infotainment versus Dealer! I'll put my money on Jesse every time, Hands down! I could only wish he was 50 miles away from me. I was ready to put my truck on a direct enclosed carrier to him when I was stuck on 1.7.1
As someone who has worked in dealers for a long time now, I can tell you that all service departments have good veteran techs and they also have crappy ones. When you drop your truck off at a dealer, it gets assigned to whatever tech is next based on whatever system they use to try and distribute work evenly around the department. Your vehicle can land in the hands of one of the good ones, or it cannot.

With that said, if I need to have my engine rebuilt, I am going to the dealership. However, if I have a software issue on my truck, I'm going with the software engineer that knows my truck as if it were his own, because in a way, it is. I'm not taking it to a wrench-turner that will most likely need to depend on Ford engineers to tell them what to do while my truck sits there waiting for Ford to respond. I say that with no disrespect meant to the techs......they simply are not trained to handle the over-complicated issues that these newer trucks are capable of having. This is why FDRS tells you step-by-step what you are supposed to do.......Ford knows the techs would otherwise have no idea how to do the things that people have accomplished in this thread with the help of several contributors here.

A couple weeks ago I was able to successfully get my truck fully upgraded, but in the process I started to get an error: "Pre-Collision Assist Not Available" which means my Adaptive Cruise Control and BlueCruise won't work (2 steps forward, 1 step back )

I found on this thread that @StangTech had the same issue and resolved it by loading the factory as built configuration for the IPMA module. Since my DTC code is the same (IPMA U2101:00), I figured I would try the same fix. Unfortunately - no luck. I'm still getting the Pre-Collision Assist error.

What is really weird is that after loading the factory as built configuration (I had Forscan download it), I got an error when I get to write the updated configuration:

Ford F-150 ECU module programming guide using FDRS Screenshot 2023-05-03 134438

This is what that block looks like:

I went ahead and clicked yes to continue. Was that a mistake?

Then when I got the same "Pre-Collision" error, I decided to try and load my backup configuration when I first set up Forscan, but it won't load. I get this error:

@Jesse-Infotainment - any ideas/wisdom you can share?

My VIN is 1FTFW1ED0MFB61851

thanks!

And here is my IPMA module (after downloading the factory as built):

Seeing recent posts with Jesse having to help people with broken updates. Would it be better to stop at a certain point in updates when using FDRS? Are there some updates that are just broken?

This came in. I have a 21 Job 1 Powerboost. Not sure what it updated. I am hopeful that it states it will allow for more intricate updates in the future.

Ford F-150 ECU module programming guide using FDRS Screenshot_20230503_221647_FordPass

It required a 30 minute downtime.

Is that the newest version? I think 4.2.4 was latest prior to this, it surprises me because it seemed like the 21’s were behind for so long

I don’t think the updates are anymore problematic than before, it is just the wealth of information here has eliminated a lot of the post related to the pedestrian stuff so only the more rare and tricky problems are being addressed on the recent pages.

Well, probably going to try updating Friday and Saturday.

Does the as built change with updates?
Thinking of getting Forscan to save copy of everything before I start messing with FDRS. Far as I know truck is totally stock. I would like to change a few minor things eventually.
