You like what you like I suppose. Never been a fan of tint myself. With that, NC allows for 32% and from the top of the windshield to the AS1 line, or 5", which ever is longer for passenger cars. Trucks and SUV's are allowed black out on the rear window and rear doors. Not only are you susceptible to tickets ($238), you will also fail annual inspection. There is a medial exemption, but you must also display that sticker on the lower left rear glass, or it's a $200 fine.

In Virginia, cops used to pull you over for tint and no front plate. I'm not sure if the laws have changed but ever since covid these have basically become secondary offenses.

As to others pointing out your tint is illegal, if I was in a really good mood I would probably say thank you for pointing that out for me. On any other day I probably would ignore them or tell them go about their own business.

I had my front windows (front doors and full windshield) tinted to match the factory tint on the rear windows). I've been pulled over a twice and on both occasions neither law enforcement officer said a thing about my tint. In fact, he was more curious as to why i did not notify him that I was carrying a concealed weapon even though recently passed legislation no longer requires me to do so.

My wife bought a new explorer st in February, and had her windows done the same way. No issues for her yet either.

IMO, my vehicle is my castle and I should be able to do wharltever I want to as long as I drive it within the speed limit and control it such that I do no hard to anyone else.

Well yes, "must notify" is one thing, lying is another. A textbook question is do you have any guns, drugs, rocket launchers in the vehicle and is often the first or second question. Granted you can defer to the 5th and say nothing but that typically brings out the fine tooth comb. If you can get your carry off quickly and stash it in the console without looking like you're moving around you can just have the no ready without thinking and if it's discovered you didn't know it was in there. Get it in quick and then reach up and turn on the interior lights if it's dark. Try to make the interaction unremarkable, you're just a boring average person on your way to volunteer at the old-folks home ;)

Eh, if you're not ridin' dirty, there's really nothing to worry about.
I'm tint, so it ain't easy to be seen
When you see me ride by, they can see the gleam
And my shine on the deck and the TV screen
And I'm ridin' with a new chick, she like, "Hold up"
Next to the PlayStation controller
Is a full clip and my pistola

His pistol must be a PITA to use having to reload with a clip. I don't recall seeing fixed mag pistols, but maybe he had his special made. Sounds like something the DPRC would dream up.

In OH, we are not required to disclose if we're carrying concealed. It's a relatively new law. The officer knew there was a good chance I was carrying concealed as I have a license to do so and he has access to see that in his computer. The questioning went, are you carrying a concealed weapon? I stated forgive me officer, but I do not beleove I am required to disclose that under the legislation that passed recently. He replied, oh and returned to his reason for pulling me over, supposedly running a red light, but I politely mentioned my front and rear dash cams and he handed me my license, insurance and said have a nice day. Aside from tinted windows, I a fly right. Looking back, pretty sad situation. I wa ls in an extremely wealthy community. I would have thought police would know betty than to pull that crap.

I recently got my windows tinted pretty dark, and people keep telling me it's illegal. I usually respond by saying it's for the privacy of the camera equipment I travel with and because it just looks cool. I've always wanted tint this dark, and honestly, I have a feeling that cops won't be eager to pull over a vehicle that looks this classy. Oh, and by the way, I don’t have a front plate either... not exactly legal either.

Here are the tint specs for my vehicle:
- Full Windshield: XR Black 55 (54% VLT)
- Front (Driver & Passenger Windows): XR Black 20 (20% VLT)
- Rear (Both Sides & Back Windows including Slider): XR Black 20 (20% VLT) over the stock colored glass
- Panoramic Sunroof: XR Black 55 (54% VLT)
