At 22,800 miles I just had my first non recall check warranty repair. Passenger side mirror camera and cable replacement following hurricane Milton.

I'd get a lemon lawyer on that pronto.
The frustration with that would keep me from being able to sleep at night.

To make matters worse they delivered my truck to me and drove away the ST-Line Escape loaner! The nerve!

Wow!
You jumped out of one Consumer Reports dog into another, and then back again?
Glutton for misery.

Won't be long and you'll be a convert.
Honda Ridgeline for the heavy work.
Or a SanteFe, if you become responsible. (nobody really needs a pickup truck)

And then a Sentra for a practical daily commuter.

You'll be so much happier. I promise. ?

I mean, the fact that the Honda Ridgeline…which like four people ever have bought…rates so highly in the mid-size segment tells me CR probably isn’t very reliable on trucks. Sure, it’s a reliable vehicle…but will it stay reliable if I use it for truck stuff?

I look at CR and then do my own research.

For me, engine and transmission are most important. PB has a slightly different powertrain but bolted to the 3.5 and the 10 speed, both of which have been around for ages at this point.

RAM was their former number #1 with average reliability. Again, I think that combo of mostly proven HEMI + ZF 8 speed just not a lot of issues there.

I don't worry so much about software glitches or things like that. Sure they're "problems" but usually end up being solved. If the bones are good, that's good with me.

We're seeing with Tundra the all-new powertrain problem. And likely why RAM isn't even on that list now with its new engine.

There are Powerboost powering homes during power outages. Even though Ford shows the Powerboost powering "a job site" and the Lightning powering a house.
They do look very similar and can be confusing to some.

Bluecruise 1.4 has been available to anyone with a Gen14 F150 since about Christmas last year. Admittedly, you have to want it bad enough to download and install yourself, since OTA delivery is an undelivered promise for the most part.

But yeah, it's not rare for a Powerboost to experience "electrical gremlins". Many are momentary and nothing but a nuisance. Especially if the low voltage side of the Powerboost isn't operating at a healthy voltage.

And yes, Ford's quality control is pathetic. But according to the forums of most major brands, the cry is far from a Blue Oval exclusive. I've never seen it so bad since the 70's. And this time it's even an issue for brands that once were the standard bearer of quality control.
What do I need to do to get the 1.4 bluecruise? I would like to have it on my 22 Platinum 3.5 EcoBoost. I noticed that CR did not even list the 3.5 Ecoboost.

Retired and not looking. I am driving the wife crazy.
So far, my new to me about 6 months ago 2021 F150sLariat 4WD is performing fine. It did lose my phone the other day after about 3 hours of driving. It could not find it afterward. So I was navigating on my phone. Who does that anymore? That is more important than step height.

In nearly 3 years mine has spent ~9 weeks in the shop for a variety of things, none of which are PB-specific.
The question is whether or not there is sufficient utility in the vehicle despite that.
For me there is, especially every time I hook up my trailer and can power the frig while driving and not having to lug gas and a generator around and annoy my camping neighbors if I need power. Not to mention when I'm not towing that I get 22-30 mpg.
Having gone through so many warranty repairs previously, current performance suggests the bugs are largely worked out; at least that's the bet I'm making.

I'm not interested in starting over with another vehicle, especially one that has less utility and would require me to alter the way I travel and camp.

Who cares what CR thinks! I never ask them for a recommendation before I buy anything.
It isn't what CR thinks. They compile data from the tens of thousands of questionnaire respondents. It is real-world data as reported by owners of vehicles, appliances, tools, and so on.

I tried a Ridgeline for a little over a year and moved to an F-150 because the back was too tight for 3 kids. The fact that CR doesn’t even mention the ABYSMAL tech in the Ridgeline is hilarious. I wanted to love the truck but the auto headlights flashed everyone, the collision warning went off when going over hills, the radio is from 2015, etc. my Ridgeline was a 2022 and I promise the tech in my 2017 hyundai sonata was better.

This is why he drives a Chinese EV. He knows his products are trash. That being said, it really is hit or miss with these trucks. Some get turds, others get trucks that behave exactly as intended. Unfortunately, that is a very expensive dice to roll

How does one go about installing BlueCruise 1.4? This is the first I've heard of its availability. I'm guessing you are talking about an update requiring FORScan?

FDRS is the only way to install it without waiting for it to be delivered OTA. I know Ford receives an endless amount of smack for its inability to OTA Bluecruise 1.2,1.3,1.4 over the air. But frankly, I can't believe they ever thought they could. Rarely would anyone's vehicle have the necessary low voltage power available to write that much code to that many modules. And that doesn't even consider the risks associated with OTA anyways.

So FDRS is not only the safest and best way to upgrade Bluecruise, but it's also been available for a very long time time.
