Just checked FDRS, seems it's never been connected (as in a dealer hasn't connected to the truck at all). This truck is likely good to go / traded in due to circumstances as there's no diagnostics / troubleshooting been done to it.

Warranty history is blank. No Fordpass account connected to the truck to check for any error codes it may be reporting. The only open FSA is:

  • 23B24 INSPECTION OF TAILGATE STEP HANDLE AND REPLACEMENT

Whoever had it before never took it to a dealer for any problems. Unless it was taken in to the dealer a few weeks ago and the work order hasn't been posted to PTS yet, it just seems like whoever bought it just didn't like it.

Any concerns about it just add an ESP warranty. Several places sell it online way cheaper than dealers unless you live in Florida. If it is over 41k might be some small hoop to jump through but I think it is different on Gold Certified since they start off with a warranty.

All vehicles have issues from time to time I've had my own in past. ESP took care of anything that came up and that was mostly minor. Waste of money? Maybe, but felt better about the tech at the time having protection. Now there is even more tech so it was easy choice to get ESP again on my used purchase.

FDRS data is typically only 24hrs old -- not even showing it's ever been connected up.

Good idea to run it through FDRS. I would have to agree that whatever the reason the previous owner got out of this truck, was not related to it being problematic.

So does the dealer not connect to it to get the ford certified gold?

and also would it be a good buy since no one connected to it, hence no issues seen. It has around 5k miles on it only. CARFAX for it shows the lease and then directly a return of lease vehicle to dealer. Then the dealer certified it and did the oil change and whatnot.

also, the dealer states that it has to be sold by 12/31 or it is going to auction. I don’t know why they would send it to auction.

Fordpass is for the customer and not the dealer. You connect it when you buy it. I was hoping the previous owner still had his account on it so I can see more info. Gold certified just means it passed the inspection required by Ford to qualify for the extended factory warranty.

That's just the way dealers work. Mine is the same way. Used vehicles that don't sell in X amount of time get sold at auction to make room for fresh inventory.

I don't see any red flags with this truck.

Truck appears to be just fine. If you're not paying $10k under the sticker price at most, let it go to auction. String the dealer along while you look at other vehicles if they don't want to give you a solid price. After all, you can order for 4% under invoice right now.

It's a little odd that there's no record of even a single scan. I often saw trucks with a login at or near the delivery/acquisition date. It wouldn't show as any kind of service necessarily though. Often listed as PTS I think?

Having said that, if the empty log is for real, it would indicate that the truck never experienced a service of any kind. But it also hasn't received the SSN update that the 2023s were more likely to experience than previous year model. So maybe ask the dealership to apply the update?

Wow. I’m in awe. The power of a forum! All
I can say is you better think twice before posting some nonsense when @HammaMan , @rugedraw , and @Snakebitten are on line. I would say they put the F and the U in ForUm if you’re posting BS. I would trust it’s a clean truck ready for purchase after reading thru this.

Totally agree. Would add Jessie into the list to round it out but the fact that u don't need Jessie is a good thing.

The suggestion on warranty is a good one. I am an old guy and never have boughten a warranty on anything before but with these trucks (and I don't have a PB) it just felt right. I tow a trailer a lot and I am able to sleep better knowing I have that added insurance. Because of this this forum I bought from Granger. I am a cdn and hope it works but for now I am assuming it will so I can sleep soundly.

Good luck with your decision!

Yeah, thanks for all your help, appreciate it. The sticker for it is $65,900 and they have it for $52,460.

they’ve reduced it by around $5k since the end of August.
