Building off of their 'ram air' diff covers, they've gone after trans pan market. However in typical fashion they're not doing anything for the 1/2 ton market. Despite there being over 500k PBs on the market, nobody has gone after any aftermarket pan for the MHT. Take 20 seconds and shoot them an email asking them to make parts!

I like what banks does with their transmission oil pans and they’re diff coolers. I think they’re probably the best in the business at it better than PPE some of the other Brands. It’s incredibly frustrating that they don’t seem to wanna do anything for the half ton market because that is a huge, huge market.

I'm a fan of Banks and do enjoy the videos from time to time, even shot them an e-mail because I support the cause (why are we stopping a transmission pans though, if there aren't millions upon millions of super 8.8s and 9.75s on the road, I'd be shocked).

However, I don't see myself replacing the PPE deep pan with a Banks one should Banks develop one. Having the die-cast fins would be nice, but throwing shots at sand cast because it leaves behind sand particles like PPE isn't cleaning that out before shipping to customers, that's low, even for Banks.

I thought that was funny given that every one of the blocks are sand cast.

PPEs failure to line up their cooling fins inside and out limits efficacy. Neither one of them have looked at any paper on fin design efficacy since FEA has been a thing. I can't believe they spent the $$ on an injection mold only to go with the least effective design ala straight fins. Could have made it look much different and perform significantly better.

It all makes sense when you’re talking about the rear differential cover but on a transmission; it’s pretty simple to take advantage of the built in pump and hook up a proper heat exchanger that will handily outperform the most elaborately designed pan pound for pound and dollar for dollar.

The transmission fluid will also be climbing in temperature more when you’re going uphill and probably not going too fast. Same for acceleration from a stop. It’s not an airplane that can consistently depend on airflow.

The transmission pan is also in a more vulnerable spot than the differential cover when you’re going forward. I’m kinda miffed about the 9.75 being ignored when it comes to their differential covers but I don’t really care about the transmission pan. I just wish someone would make a cheap drawn steel 10R80 pan with a drain plug.

Also, it would be nice if the manufacturers would drop the ‘lifetime fluid’ sealed transmission bullshit.

The 3.5, especially the PB can use all the cooling help it can get. When the ICE shuts down (and thus coolant flow) in hybrid mode combined with the trans fluid being sprayed onto the windings of the electric motor, trans temps can jump to 230 degrees in 30 seconds.
