Guys Im smitten. The tech replaced the valve body and jeeeeesus its a damn good trans now. No more rough 3-4-5 bullshiiit, no more speculation, I can finally go full LOG Laid to Rest. Patrick at Groove Ford in Denver has commendations.
Were your symptoms just the 3-4-5 shifts?

Curious if the dealer attempted any TSBs for software updates or the solenoid flushing first?

Did the truck have any codes or anything like that?

No codes. Just the 345 pretty much this time. My trans was 3qt low from the factory which made the truck shudder real bad. They filled it in a prior visit which took care of the shudders. They think the low condition damaged a valve in the throttle body. I dont have the paperwork in front of me, but they called out a valve ("C valve"???) that was inspected and found to have excessive tolerances.

Idk. Ive hardly driven this thing since its been fixed. Its working great now! Texting this from the long asss line for gas at costco. I ended up trading my cx30 for a cx50 last night and now Im working through some small stuff like alignment and a bad paint chip

Appreciate the feedback. Helpful as I progress with similar 6-5 and often 3-4-5 upshifts with some shudder.

My 21 (45k has always had a cold weather clunk that has gotten warmer with time (started out in sub zero temperatures - more recently started happening in 40s) and also started to feel slow on shifting. Brought it into Phil Long in Denver and put on a list to have it looked at. Finally got it in and they diagnosed and ended up doing a rebuild under it looks like campaign 24-2304. It looks like it went through fairly extensive diagnostic based on the paperwork. I don’t know a lot about transmissions but the work order was like 6 pages long…

Haven’t had it long enough to know how everything is working but felt good driving home. They said to expect it to feel a little wonky while the transmission relearns but to bring it back in if still having issues after a few hundred miles. They also said that it extends the factory warranty on it another 2 years.

Anyway happy with the service and hopefully the transmissions now better than she was when she came out of the factory ?

Good to hear. I bought mine from Phil Long in COS. Its been good since the valve body replacement, but it still occasionally clunks on 4th and 3rd, but I think its within the realm of normal at this point.

Yeah I still have a bit of weird clunky shifting but I’m going to give it a bit more time reprogramming to see if any of it feels concerning. It does feel a lot more responsive than it had gotten and haven’t had any big clunks yet.

Why does the factory under fill all of these? Mine was 3 quarts low, and my buddies 2021 blew up at 40,000 miles because the factory under-filled it by 4 quarts. Seems Ford does it on purpose to try and get premature right out of warranty transmission failures.

Mine was low as well when I took it in a few months ago. I don't recall how low but they did add fluid to it. My transmission is still acting weird. Not as bad, but I suspect the valve body needed replaced from the beginning. At this rate I'll probably get rid of the truck before it gets replaced and working smooth.

I bet they put 10 or so quarts in so they can start the engine and warm things up then don’t bother topping it off because it takes time.

No tongue in cheek emoticon?

So there was a meeting in some room at Ford HQ and a discussion took place amongst a couple of fellas that have the authority and ability to implement such a strategy, AND keep it quiet?
And for what purpose?

I'm willing to accuse folks at Ford, who are supposed to be held accountable for QC of the 10r80, as being woefully incompetent for not even being capable of insuring a proper fluid fill during manufacturing. But intentionally sabotaging? ?
