Any good experiences from PowerBoost owners

My ‘21 PB KR has had zero issues. Literally zero. Had a recall on my windshield wipers but they were working perfectly. Oh yes, 57,209 miles right now as I look at the odometer. We drove it on a 2,000 mile road trip last fall across Missouri, Kansas, and Colorado. A few hundred miles over Colorado gravel roads. No issues. Blue ribbon comfort. Love those massaging seats on long trips. I have a ‘24 on order just like it.

AGM under the backseat and under hood.
The larger battery that powers the truck for mobility is Lithium ION.

I purchased a 2023 kings ranch powerboost 8 months ago. Afterwards, looking at all the terrible stories about them, I started wondering if I should trade it in. Ha.
The windows in mine went down a couple times, but it was fixed over the air by ford... which I appreciate not having to go in to get something done. I work about 4 miles from home, so most of my trips are short. I occasionally have a 12 volt battery low issue, but i figure I'll just go buy a good new battery before summer here. Arizona is hard on them anyway. I did have the drivers window go really slow when it's cold out, come to find out, there's some goop in the track, and when it was cleaned out with a towel, fixed it.
I put a roush air intake on it (had ford do it).
I now have about 10,000 miles on it. It's the best truck I've ever had.
And faasssst.
I average about 21 mpg. All in town.

I did also get the 10 year warranty, just in case.

I have had my powerboost 3 months so far and no issues with the drive train at all, I had one minor panel fitment issue from the factory not all related to the drive train and ended up with a bunch more issues all of which were the result of the tech working on the truck being careless. I pulled my truck from them dealer after it sat there for 3 weeks because the tech was unable to resolve the problem and they were waiting on Ford engineering, I was able to fix the issues myself in about 10 minutes with forscan.

I have a 2023 Lariat PB with over 18,000 miles and love the truck. Great for long road trips. Extremely comfortable and quite. I put mine on a smart charger if I'm not going to drive it for a few days and that has solved the low battery warning. I get 22 to 26 mpg in the city and 21 to 22 mpg on the road.

Can add another to the list of people who like their PB. 21’ XLT. No major issues other than noise on Cold start when it was below -12 but that’s been fixed with OTA update and I broke a cv axle when using 4wd to get out of a field but that’s not a PowerBoost problem.

I ordered a 2024 King Ranch PowerBoost last October. Got my Vin#, and build status has been "In Production" since 2/15. So now it is probably parked in a field with thousands of others waiting for Ford to figure out what has to happen to make their trucks salable. I have been reading multiple threads about all the problems PowerBoost owners are experiencing, and I am starting to wonder if I should go through with my purchase when/if my truck is finally available. So my question is, are there any PowerBoost owners who have NOT experienced any problems, and are completely satisfied with their truck? From what I've read, there are many battery issues, truck totally shutting down while driving, jerking when switching from electric to ICE, some small AGM battery under the rear seat dying, multiple problems after over the air updates, windows going back down when using auto up, no connection to Ford Pass app, low battery shutdown warnings, broken axle bolts, and on, and on, and on....... Did Ford move all their talented engineers over to work on EVs and there are none left to keep their #1 profitable vehicle out of the repair shop? Still have not read of a single person who has taken delivery of a 2024 F150 after being in production for almost 2 1/2 months, and when driving around SE Michigan, I see lot, after lot, after lot, of parked F150's. Ford has said they have started deliveries of the '24s, but still don't see any on dealer lots. Farley has said they are benchmarking Toyota for quality, so maybe I should buy a Toyota instead of a Ford? Are 2024's not being delivered because of quality/parts issues, or is Ford holding back deliveries to try and push excess inventory of 2023 models off dealer lots?

Update:
I want to thank everyone for providing this feedback. Makes me feel better about going through with a purchase. However, the common denominator of most problems people have raised are related to the battery being drained by the many systems that continue to run with the vehicle off, and their recommendation was to drive more, install a battery tender, deactivate some of the features like the perimeter sensors, or as some have suggested, always carry a portable battery pack with you. Seems a little strange to have to go to these extremes on a $75,000+ vehicle. I am retired and very often I may not drive my truck for 4-5 days, and when I do, it may only be for a short distance to the store and back. So this may be a problem for me. If this is such a widespread problem, maybe Ford should consider including a built-in battery tender as standard on their build. As I live alone and have no other means of transportation, the thought of my truck being tied up at a dealer for several days, or even weeks as some have mentioned, is also a concern I have. Again, I want to thank everyone for their feedback.

‘23 Lariat PB, absolutely love it and look forward to driving everyday. >17K and with the exception of 3 minor battery problems about 10K mile ago, runs like a champ….Cheers

I have a 22 King Ranch PB, waited nearly a year from date of order to taking delivery. Love the truck but am considering trading it in, but for another KRPB. Almost zero issues, for some reason about every 500-600 miles I get a low gas message.....
The only reason I would trade it is to get the massaging seats that were auto deleted on mine.
I've driven F-150's for over 25 years and this has been the pick of the litter!

21 Limited PB. Great truck. Main issue right now is I’m way behind on OTA updates for some reason, but that is not a PB issue. Most comfortable F-150 I’ve owned (third one). Lots of power and the 7.2Kw generator comes in handy. Would buy again for sure.

I got mine in November and have put about 2500 miles on it, so take my opinion with a grain of salt, I love the truck so far and have had no issues. That said I did just drop more than I probably needed in esp due to all the negative reviews, I guess better to be safe! I grew up driving my dad’s F350 for work and am elated to finally have my first truck after sedans and a Jeep. Lots of fun to drive, no issue in snow and shit weather.

I have not experienced the gas mileage I thought I would. I changed the intake to the Roush intake early on and need to revisit my installation. I plan on doing 3-4 months in the spring/summer on the oem, then switching back to roush and seeing if I can toggle the issue. Currently getting 17MPG by the pump and OD. Not willing to make a final statement about this until I do my troubleshooting and due diligence.

I also live in a hilly area and go to the mountain often so it could just be par for the course where I am.

I also feel like they should have made the battery and electric motor a little bit larger, I find I am kicking on the ICE more often than I thought I would need to in order to accelerate at a normal pace from a stop(not trying to be that driver, there are enough Prius’ where I live…). But that issue could have been sorted when I did the test drive, I just didn’t know what to pay attention to.

payload might be an issue in the future, I wish they would have beefed things up a bit to compensate for the battery/motor and pano roof. I’m sitting at 1348Lbs(sticker) which may limit me in the future. Again, just didn’t know what I was looking for when I bought.


long story short, love the truck, imo best thing on the market for me right now. Looking forward to the truck hybrid/electric of the future when it is time to upgrade!

I have 23 PB XLT but only have 2500 miles on it. I have a panel in my cabin that rattles a little bit and I have located the source and plan on fixing it myself. I have also had the Low SOC on the factory battery. I have a 6 mile commute to work and will make numerous small trips around town hauling equipment around. After putting the battery on a tender and then resetting the BMS myself, my battery messages stopped although the battery monitor I installed suggests it might only be a matter of time before the battery needs to be replaced. That said, the truck hasn't stranded me because the hybrid battery floods the truck with power when you turn it on. I also had my driver window switch lost auto-up functionality. Took it to the dealer and it was fixed in 30 minutes after a "switch-relearn". The software is definitely the Achilles heel of these trucks but I freakin love it so far. When I play the hybrid game and take hybrid friendly routes, I can get over 30 MPG on single trips with lots of electric mode. I still average about 20 MPG because I can't keep the truck out of boost when merging on the highway. TOO MUCH FUN. Also, being able to power my welder anywhere I can take the truck is just amazing! Would buy again.

Job 1 2021. Almost rolled over 55,000 miles. Transmission replaced around the 5k mile mark. Ever since then, it's been problem free.

Air Dam was a terrible idea with its poorly designed components. Great truck and the Pro Power was a game changing idea 3 years ago.Just ran my house for 3 days on the truck it worked like a charm. Made my own cover for the Pro Power panel, wish Ford saw exposed/energized plugs in a storm as a problem. There must be a way to allow customer to both power a home and use away (GFCI), second plug, switch, something to allow un-bonding the neutral. PGE has introduced a meter-head transfer switch, no rewire or sub-panel, specs match 30Amp 7500 Watts and same plug, Pro Power needs to work with this type of device. Ford needs to see the demand for home backup power capability is HUGE.
