I think that the 7.2 kW is the biggest argument for the hybrid. The power and mileage are nice, but the ability to run whatever you've got wherever your truck is parked is pretty impressive.

What many miss is that the 7.2 kW is, as I refer to it, a full power generator. By that I mean it is independent of altitude limitations. A "normal" portable generator will lose output with altitude. My home is at 7500 feet altitude. Any generator will lose about 30% of rated output at that altitude. The Powerboost does not because the engine is so much larger than the inverter that even though is is technically "derated" for altitude, the derating does not impact the generator output.

The upgrade is also a payload hit, and people try to pinch "pennies" on those yellow stickers so much as to give up max tow because the gen13 options sheet showed it as a 14# payload hit (even though the best info on it showed it was below-sprung components). (It wasn't until way later that someone inspected under the powerboost and found exact same stabilizers and axles as a max tow EB)

Intuitively, the beefier inverter and way thicker cabling I'd guess are 20# or so but when trying to reverse engineer the 7.2kW upgrade weight, it may be as much as 30-50#.

So if you don't plan to use it, it can save some $ and #.
IMHO, if you NEED that extra 30-50# payload, then F150 is not the truck for you. You need Super Duty.

That may be so, but for me, if the 7.2Kw generator added too much weight and I couldn't select that option, I would have keep my old truck which had the HDPP option.

Well I wasn't worried, I believe I was trying to help other people here that were extremely concerned about every option's weight. I went with the 7.2k.

Also many folks WOULD get a Superduty if they had the 7.2kW as an option. It was mentioned many times on here how that is the dream setup. But at the end of the day you only get it in the half ton and limit your max trailer, or you get a superduty that you can't park anywhere, but can pull a heavy trailer anywhere you want (and bring a portable generator).

Fun side note: After 3 years with my powerboost that I love love love, I am updating to a Ram 3500 Crew Cab, as it is the only brand HD truck that still fits in my garage. I will miss the fun of driving the hybrid, but we only used the propower camping twice. I'm trading off some features of my F150 to get more towing. If anyone wants a Job1 Powerboost King Ranch with every option except max recline, hit me up! :D

I looked at a powerboost the other day and it only had one plug in the bed? And the sticker doesn't say which one it has 2. 4 or 7.2

If it’s not stated on the window sticker, it has the standard 2.4 KWH
