New transmission failed in a week. What's that about?
2018 F150 67,000 miles. Had the transmission replaced four weeks ago with a new transmission that includes three year warranty. $10,500 at Ford dealership service. I paid $5,300 and Ford covered the rest.
Would you believe within a week after picking it back up it started shifting hard (clunk) occasionally going second through fourth gear. More concerning to me was a loud clunk and shudder when going from park into reverse. Happened more than half the time.
Took the truck back in to the service department today and they said the CDF Drum is shot. Last month Ford told them to replace the entire transmission. Dealership don't know yet if Ford wants them to replace the entire transmission again or just the CDF Drum.
Seems like a never ending nightmare. How is this even possible? Am I missing something? What did they really do the first time for which I paid $5,300? Or is this truly plausible?
I'm about a week away from picking up my 2024 F150 that I ordered and wondering if I should just cut my losses and jump off the sinking Ford ship? ?
