I don't own one
But I have friends that do...and it's an awesome machine that is under sold by ford.. it's a freaking powerhouse
If they apply the tech to a superduty
Hold on...it's going to change that market.
Imo ford failed miserably to promote it's capability...I would have got one vice the last f150
Just like they dropped the ball on the tow monster excursion
I agree about the marketing. 3 of my friends, all long time Ford truck guys. Two, had never even heard of it and all, I've had to do demonstrations of the PPOB, with the ICE cycling, for them to really grasp the utility.

Then of course the stigma of hybrid = Prius (underpowered). Tell them the specs. They can't really believe it until I put them behind the wheel.

Then they bring up that stupid Consumer Reports thing, that blamed the PB, for non PB specific issues.

I don't hate it, but I've read enough of the problems with them on here, I'd never buy one.
There have been some, who have had real problems and some of them, have been really poorly handled by the dealers and or Ford.

But you can check any number of the PB reliability threads and overwhelmingly, the responses will be positive.

Perhaps, but there are few to no complaints about the Coyote.

I like playing the odds.

Agreed, notice I didn’t hate anyone else or the PB in general. I just lost confidence in that truck; so I cut my losses and moved on. I am thrilled for those with no issues.

The lack of powertrain refinement is one big reason to hate on the PB.

That and the low quality, as documented in the repeated low rankings by CR owners.

Ford F-150 PowerBoost Named LEAST Reliable Vehicle for Third Straight Year
I just can't relate at all with what you and CR are saying.

Yes there were frustrating but non serious gremlinish electrical issues early on but they've been fixed at no more cost than learning of and executing the BMS reset procedure. I think that was last March or so, with none returning.

This truck is the most powerful, most comfortable, most efficient and most capable, of any I've owned.

None of the others are even in the same league.

That article seems to be referencing 21-23 models. I read that Ford made some revisions to the 24+ models, namely removing the BISG and some software tuning, to smooth things out more. I haven't driven any of the earlier PB models for comparison but my 2024 is very smooth the majority of the time. The few times it hasn't been have been mostly 10R80-related.

I've had ~2 recalls done on mine (wiper and rear axle harness thing). I've created fixes for just about anything I had a complaint about. CHMSL camera was replaced. Initially wasn't happy with my dealer, but the service manager was asking about my mods and said people were wanting to add heated/cooled seats so I did a conversion for one of their customers and now trips to the dealer are a whole other experience.

What's interesting is CR rates the PB significantly lower than other F-150s.

PB reliability is rated 7 out of 100 and the non PB 150 is rated 40 out of 100, still not good, but significantly better than the PB's score.

It's been this way for three years now, so I'm not surprised the PB's bad reputation is so entrenched, so much so that Ford has to give the PB away for 'free' now, through the $1900 PowerBoost Hybrid Discount.

Yeah and I'm calling bullshit on the whole thing.

I read the first year's hit job when it first came out and they were definitely pinning things on PB that were not PB specific.

When you look at this list, its full of hybrids and EVs.

I have a feeling the author has some sort of motivation for that.

As mentioned, the overwhelming response here, is positive. Some things to iron out, true enough but the serious problems are few, relatively.

In one of the F150 FB groups a guy compared the PowerBoost to a transgender, lmao.

He said something like “We have gasoline, and we have electric, and then we have a powerboost that is one, but wants to be the other..” and now that’s stuck in my head ???
