In one of the F150 FB groups a guy compared the PowerBoost to a transgender, lmao.

He said something like “We have gasoline, and we have electric, and then we have a powerboost that is one, but wants to be the other..” and now that’s stuck in my head ???
Was it a 5.0 guy? Had to be "...yeah, but it really starts to wake up around 4500 RPM...."

That article seems to be referencing 21-23 models. I read that Ford made some revisions to the 24+ models, namely removing the BISG and some software tuning, to smooth things out more. I haven't driven any of the earlier PB models for comparison but my 2024 is very smooth the majority of the time. The few times it hasn't been have been mostly 10R80-related.
Probably a good move on Ford's part. Mine has been throwing a BISG code lately and losing electric mode at the same time. Dealer is looking at it on Tuesday.

Otherwise, I had the ECU reflash recall for the cats which was PowerBoost specific but that was no big deal. No other issues.

I'll go on record as a '22 PB owner. Zero issues with the PB part of my truck. Have used the Gennie twice when my house lost power. Sold my portable, louder than a jet airplane, Gennie and freed up that space in my shop.
Only thing I'm "disappointed" in, if anything, is I wish it acted like a real hybrid and used the battery more. To me it still acts as a standard EB mileage wise.

The only real hate I am hearing as of late is It is a hybrid vehicle and you shouldn't be modifying it. This refers to lifts and larger tires or any modification that decreases fuel efficiency. I don't own a power boost, but I see no difference. In my opinion it's a pickup truck not a Prius.

People should outfit their trucks as they please, or leave them stock if thats what they want. Chrome, no chrome, black, no black, whatever.

But what they shouldn't do, is raise them, throw big tires at them and then bitch at the reduction in mpg, or that their self adjusting headlights don't work any more.

Or go in and tinker with the computer system and then be surprised when something goes wrong.

Other than some early electrical gremlins, fully and still, completely cured, by doing this,

https://www.f150gen14.com/forum/threads/no-more-battery-problems.24011/

My truck has and continues to,

https://www.f150gen14.com/forum/threads/exceeding-expectations.25663/

Saw a review vid from Ben Hardy yesterday, where he was blah, blahing about the PB, saying its a 2K option, didn't know if it was worth it etc.

That 2K option also, automatically gets you 4WD, a heavier axle and springs and PPOB. Toss in another $700 or so and it ups the PPOB to 7.2KW. You cannot buy as big a generator, that will run as quietly, or efficiently as that, for anything like that money and you don't have to lug this one around, or service it.

WTF?
New Lariat PB in July 2023, 32,000 miles and with the exception of two initial electrical (battery) issues, been great, in fact flawless. To this day I still have the OEM batteries that came with it and have not had ONE problem (knocking on wood). Used it during the hurricane last year and absolutely I'm love with this truck.

While naysayers tag it as a $1,900 option, they fail to point out the offsetting $1,900 discount making it a wash. Love my new 2025 King Ranch PB!

I don't own one
But I have friends that do...and it's an awesome machine that is under sold by ford.. it's a freaking powerhouse
If they apply the tech to a superduty
Hold on...it's going to change that market.
Imo ford failed miserably to promote it's capability...I would have got one vice the last f150
Just like they dropped the ball on the tow monster excursion
I keep asking Ford where is the SuperDuty PB and I get a deer in the headlights look. I swear they don't know what they have with most things. I still remember being at the media launch event for the Maverick and they had no idea how popular it would be. I just don't get the leadership team at times.

I guess I should fix an obvious mistake in the OP. The PB doesn't automatically get you 4WD, it requires it and if building an XLT 2WD, is a lot more than 2K.

What has to be done is a tremendous amount of research before any type of modification is done You must weigh the pros and cons. The biggest one; can you afford the repair if the warranty doesn't cover it. What warranties are you voiding by that said modification. Is the risk versus the reward. For me I don't like a stock F-150. I love The stance of a super duty. I drove them for years and going to an F -150 was a compromise. But I prefer the stiffer suspension with a wider and taller stance. Hell my truck drives so much better now. So much less roll... just by the feel of the steering wheel I feel more in control. I took a professional's advice on what to buy and how to do it, and I am glad I did. But again I can make my own repairs for the most part. Some people can't. So in their case can they afford to have somebody else make those repairs. At my dealership I have a good relationship. I'm not hiding anything from them. I go to them for advice when purchasing parts for modifications. That's why my new wheels and tires damn near the same weight as oem. That was directly from my service manager because of a prior warranty issue with another customer. He told me it came down to the weight... But I could go on and on. This will be my last F-150. As I get older I'm pretty much done with modifying my vehicles. Now the next truck.... A super duty I'll add a couple accessories on it and I'll be done.

Going back a few posts, I think anyone who puts to much faith in CR is doing themselves a dis-service. CR is about as much "real world evidence" as Rolling Stone is about music nowadays. It's all biased junk. IMO, these forums are the places to go if you want real world evidence before buying one. But it takes effort to research and read 100s or 1,000s of posts to get an idea of what you're getting into. And even that is subjective.

That said, I don't like the idea of PB the same way I don't care for other hybrid cars. It's just not my cup of tea. And yes, I'm a "Coyote guy" now, but was a 1st gen EB guy back in 2011, and really liked it even then. I'm a gas guy. Period.

And as my old homies used to say "Don't hate the player, hate the game". I just don't like hybrid power trains.

I know a couple guys who have to have SDs to pull 5th wheel RVs and they can't wait for the SD version.

I agree about the spongy ride and body roll. Fortunately, the Goodyear ATs that came on it, have a wide psi range.

For daily driving, 45ish is much better than the 36 on the door tag. For towing a 7K camper, 56 and the addition of the 1000lb version of Sumo Springs in the rear, transformed it.

I would like to add because sometimes I can come off a little strong. I'm not knocking the truck. I've been told that has a lot to do with the fact I've driven Super Duties for most of my life. So for me to be more comfortable towing and hauling I prefer a stiffer ride. I stayed with 116 t tires. They have a Max PSI of 44 and I'm currently running them at 40. I knew I needed to stay away from e-ply and it wasn't necessary. With that being said I really think there's a market for a heavy duty version of the f-150. There is so much difference between an F-150 and a 250.
