Check this out. Start at 15:30 into the video.

Basically the DRLs are light tubes and the actual light source is an LED mounted on a circuit board. This guy found the LEDs for the vertical section burned out.
i figured it being burnt out was the issue, not overheated.

I think overheating leads to burnout. The video shows the LEDs charred the plastic light tube.

Very interesting.. I've watched all of his videos.. the vertical array is out on so many peoples. LEDs burning the plastic or getting burnt out while touching

After thinking about this last night I am not entirely convinced that the LEDs are actually failing. It is possible the charring of the plastic light tube is reducing light transmission. In the video the light coming from the vertical strip has a brownish tint suggesting the light is passing thru something brown. Also, I would think that an LED that fails due to thermal load would not look as good as shown.

Just adding another layer of complexity.. anyone have a 302A BAP who has burnt out DRLs?

Understandably, not stating they are build differently but they aren't built under the same production line (batch) as normal chrome trim quad leds.

Curious of the inevitable doom…

Check this out around the 20 minute mark. This guy has been investigating this problem. looks like LED get hot and burn the plastic and then the light doesn't pass thru it.
