Coating my garage floor

I am in the process of coating my garage floor and I could use some advice. I had coated the floor about 18 years ago with Epoxy Shield but it did not hold up well, probably due to a lack of proper preparation. So this time I am doing as much prep as I can. So far I have repaired some spalling at the edge of the slab and diamond scratched the entire floor twice. Some of the original coating remains along the edges but it is not coming up.

Here are some questions/concerns

1. Since I have diamond ground the surface, do I need to clean the concrete? The same goes for acid etching.
2. Should I prime the floor, and if so what product should I use? One or two part primer?
3. Will primer make the epoxy coating cover better?
4. What coating should I use? I am thinking of using Rocksolid simply because it is readily available. I also plan on top coating as well.

Not sure if you've researched current flooring technologies, but seems like the trend is going away from epoxy and towards polyaspartic

As an example, I was going to prime the floor, but most primers are one-part, essentially the same as the one-part epoxy paints. How does a primer stick when most people say the one-part paints will fail almost immediately.

I have found in past. Abuse the manufacturers..call and speak to an engineer.
Then call professional in your area. Get quotes and education
So many variables
Moisture under concrete, age, etc

Depth of slab.
Like you said..prep is key
Getting through to clean surface is hard part..
Keep us posted.
Part of my garage expansion is surface coating..
Or a tile type product.

From what I understand, Polyaspartic is the way to go with properly prepped surface to start. Should last 20+ years with no issues if done properly. Epoxy's have issues from the get go.

I have a 3 year old polyaspartic - very happy with it. one thing to be aware of is that vehicle tire rubbing on the surface will cause surface texture discontinuity - this is inevitable but can be seen visually if you are super picky like myself.

I hired it out. PolyPro uses Polyaspartic. Lifetime warranty.

I'm with @oncechance.
Hire it out and that way any failures is on the installer.
It will cost more for the labor but once that first failure happens and you have to redo something or look at it for the next 15 years you're going to curse yourself for not writing a check and having the professionals do it and warranty it.

PolyPro did my garage & back patio 8 years ago and returned to do the driveway last spring. Holding up perfectly.

They sanded/ground cement, filled cracks/pits, applied color coat, flakes, and top coat sealer (polyasparatic).

I did the pool deck grip products on patio and driveway and it is significantly more grippy. Also did the commercial protection coating on driveway for chemicals for any visitors leaking stuff on driveway.
