Once you get them going and see the list getting shorter, it's very satisfying. I know what you're going through right now.
Trying to update the apim. Left the truck door open for 30 min twice and still getting this restart message. Any thoughts out there?

Trying to update the apim. Left the truck door open for 30 min twice and still getting this restart message. Any thoughts out there?

Turn the truck off, close the door, lock it, take the keys all the way to back of the house as far from the truck as you can, wait 15 minutes

That usually does it for me. Some have also said you can peer through the mirror and see if the light around the rear USB port is off to know it's completely offline.

You can also just check the sync version. Sometimes it's successful and still gives that stupid message.

I had a 21, but no KR unfortunately, and my old truck has been sitting in the auction lot for 6 weeks now.

Same message. Restart vehicle.
After you turn the truck off and wait 10-15 minutes with the USB inserted, make sure you actually restart the truck—engine on. Some people continue to get this notice because they only turn on the ignition and then get this pop up. You have to turn the engine on. Then wait at least five minutes while idling or until you get a pop up that says the update completed, whichever occurs first, before removing the drive.

Do you have the truck on a battery tender? Willing to bet your battery isn't high enough State of Charge to let the install finish. I had this same problem way back when, had to replace my battery and after that updates were smooth sailing.

This is almost exclusively a battery issue.

I know youll say I dont have any battery issues.. But I have a charger on it.. The 21s had bad batteries.

I can tell you for sure he had a charger on it. He is borrowing one of my Mongooses and I was talking to him via PM about it last night. Not sure how many amps, but he was charging it.

Well, damn. @PizzamanJon your update process just got more expensive. I know you took the day off. Make a surprise visit to your dealer and see if they'll swap it out under warranty. Like I said before, hold on to the Mongoose until you can finish the job. This would explain why you never saw the message about leaving the driver's side door open for ten minutes.

Edit: I would not say the real reason why you're asking for a battery replacement. If you say you were trying to update the truck yourself and you believe the battery is bad, I doubt they'll listen to you. Say that your truck is giving constant messages about going to sleep mode to conserve power and that your auto start/stop is not working. They'll most likely perform a battery test and as long as it fails, you should be good to go.
