Ok so I don’t understand where the 4 2.2 and all that version stuff can be located
If your truck has got an OTA update, it will tell you the last one you got when you check for updates. Other than that you have to look at your SYNC version again in your truck.

Oh, your not looking for Fordpass app version number. The last ota version you received will show in Fordpass, under vehicle / features and settings / software updates / recent changes.

If you've updated your truck completely using fdrs as of today you would be at the equivalent of OTA 4.2.4. FDRS makes no correlation to ota update numbers. If your J1 2021 is fully updated there is technically no reason you shouldn't be able to receive OTA's

I finally got around to get everything updated.
Ran in the "low battery warning" issue, even though my battery was being maintained at a constant 13v.
Not sure what the limitation there is, but I idled my truck for an hour. Came back, and the APIM update finally went through. Didn't see the "low battery" warning for the rest of the update session. Anyone else ever encounter this? I haven't had reason to believe that I have a bad battery, it's odd my system would say that when it's being actively maintained.

Anyways, full screen Carplay, at last. The way it always should have been, I'm not a fan of the "cards" system that Ford put into play.
Also, Alexa is actually really cool to have in my truck. It works perfectly. Kinda creepy, but whatever. At this point what don't they know about me, right?

Finally, PCM update for the Powerboost. It's clear that my transmission tables have been reset, which is fine...rough shifting for a while until it started to relearn. One thing I've noticed and it's hard to say without data, but it really feels like regenerative braking is more aggressive. I wonder if anyone else has noticed this pre-PCM and post PCM updates. Probably something people on 2023 or above trucks wouldn't have noticed.

Love my 2021, it finally feels like my truck is out of Beta testing lol.

I think FDRS is looking at your 12V battery SOC, not just the current Voltage that the Battery charger is providing. That's why it's suggested to charge the battery in preparation for using FDRS as well. It'll raise the SOC value in the BMS.

And yes, on a 2021 Powerboost, the PCM updates are an opportunity to improve the drivability considerably!

Do the PCM updates come OTA or via FDRS? Jesse got me up to date (mostly) last weekend and I received 4.2.1 OTA last week but I haven't noticed a difference in regenerative braking. Would be nice to know if this is something I've already received or not.

It would also be really nice if we could control the regen. braking severity. I'm sure the hybrid motor doesn't have the ability like a full blown electric car does, but I'd love to turn it up to the maximum and see how it drives/extends MPGs

A PCM update was distributed over the air in February as Priority Update (PU) 1010. But ordinarily, I don’t see PCM updates delivered OTA. PU1010 is the only one I remember. If you applied all of the PCM updates when you last used FDRS, you might already have it.

Does FDRS give you any idea on how long updates will take?
I see posts on here and videos on YouTube and it seems some updates are short and others take hours.

We had to manually install updates outside of FDRS that took me from having almost no OTAs at all (2.2 was only one received organically) up to what was essentially the 3.5.4 equivalent. The only update since then was the 4.2.1 OTA. I'm not sure if the PU 1010 would have been included in those, but basically the only update actually completed in FDRS was the last TCU one.

Is there a way for me to check and see if I received it/ if I didn't receive it via FDRS and I'm already at the 4.x series, would I still get it OTA at a later date? Thanks in advance!

Not really. Once you start it, you can tell you long it will be based on quick or slowly the progress bar moves and how many blocks need to be written.

The 22-PU1010 update has not been sent out to the masses like other updates have. I believe those have only gone out to Raptors and Tremors, but not enough people have reported getting them for me to collect the data to say that is for certain.
