It happened again this Sunday, on a 650 mile trip from South Florida. Road rage drivers on interstate 95. The fact that I'm limited in speed and can't get away from these angry drivers is total nonsense. Let's put aside the problems humanity is facing right now, I can't address them or their behavior. I am never angry and always keep a cool head, drive with the flow of traffic, don't cut people off, I always let others pass by moving right, always courteous, and don't tailgate. Yet more and more often in recent years, people have problems with other drivers and they are out looking for trouble. I drive a great many miles, sometimes as much as 10,000 miles per month.

I may drive more in a month than many of you do in a year.

I'm not going to stop and confront someone on the side of the road. What I will do is try to get away.

I love the way my 2024 5.0 runs. It is plenty powerful, hauls a load wonderfully, and is amazingly comfortable on long trips and even returns good MPG.

But come on. Let me speed away from the angry if I need to. I do not want to be forced to fight.

#Ford, #5Star etc, all I need is speed limiter removal. Via an update, via a tune, I don't care. But I want it gone.

Since this begs the question, I'll bite. How fast are you attempting to go?

The factory limiter of 105 sucks, it was one of biggest reasons I got my truck tuned.

"Flow of traffic" - When people say this I always laugh.
"The Flow Of Traffic" is traveling 65 in the left lane(Posted speed limit 70)
while the right lane is wide open but I guess it's "OK" because you're following the flow of traffic.

PEOPLE - Get out of the left lane unless your passing someone. End of Story.

I typically drive 9 over or less to avoid tickets. Although I will always drive with traffic without lagging, AND I absolutely will not hold someone up. Not your exact question, but it should illustrate that I'm not interested in racing my F150.

I am a driving enthusiast, love my high HP sports cars and motorcycles. The truck is a truck. It is not a sports car.

But when road rage happens, I can't know what's on their mind, and I'd like my truck to not be hobble me at 99mph. I tried to get away, they were able to pass me and slam on the brakes. I saw it coming and slowed way down. They did too. At which point I accelerated again. Maybe they want an insurance payout? Maybe they want to carjack? I can't know.

Because I travel out of Florida, I can't just carry an AR and fight it out on the side of the road. Why should I be forced to be a victim?

You will never see me holding someone up. Ever. On single lane roads, I'll go 9 over, or move aside to let people pass. Every single time. I have zero interest in angering other motorists and I have no idea what their needs are.

Guess i had no idea it was limited to 105, I don't think I've ever taken mine past 90 or so.
99 indicated in my case. GPS says 98.

Florida is a different world. Roads are wide, straight and flat. And people move fast. Hitting 99 to get away from a road rage driver takes about 5 seconds.

Notice, I'm not camped in the left lane, there is not much traffic and being speed limited is rather unhelpful.

Wow, seems low. I am sure I have done at least 95 in a previous truck. I imagine my wifes buick goes faster lol.

Why are you specifically being targeted by road rage drivers? I'm not being critical, but I'm curious.

Speed seems like a nice idea until someone cuts in front of you because they didn't check their blind spot while you're focused on something behind you.

I've had to slam on the brakes on a Tahoe PPV at 200 km/h and dive out of my lane because of that and it's a miracle I didn't crash the damn thing. That thing had pursuit rated tires, a lower centre of gravity, and upgraded brakes. I can't imagine the same scenario going well in a stock F150 - especially if it hits another car.

I'm also fully aware that FHP or your local police department are minutes away when seconds count. I don't have a solution, but I've seen the results of speed going wrong enough to know it's not a great answer.

Funny, I follow the rules of the road for drivers of motor vehicles and have few issues with others. There is no senario where speeding at over a hundred MPH is going to aid in your safety or stress reduction. Good thread though!

As a CDL-holder, generally, the answer to avoiding idiots on the road is to slow down, rather than do 120 mph. Don't fall into their trap. Avoid them.

You'll never win the rat race. They'll just keep bringing fresh rats off the bench.

Going 100MPH is reckless driving and is immediately not the solution. It's actually quite simple. Dial the 3 digit number of the state you are in to reach Highway Patrol (Florida is #347 for example) and tell them the mile marker you are at and the offending vehicle. If you are in immediate danger or life is threatened there is no other answer but 911. Not sure if this would help or not, but investing in a CB and radio'ing truckers for assistance might be valuable.

I’m kind of concerned here. I agree the world is a crazy place, but being able to excessively speed around when you get spooked probably isn’t the answer.

By driving over 100 mph on the highway you are putting someone else's life in danger. Think about what could happen if you lose control and crash into someone else’s vehicle. What if there is a baby in that car or you maim or kill some else's son or daughter. Not worth engaging in road rage with other drivers, especially young dumb ones.

Ford put a speed limiter on these trucks because they are not designed to go over 100 MPH. The only reason I see removing the speed limiter as acceptable is for off road use such as for drag racing, like if you have a RCSB truck and drag race it. At least then if you crash its on you and not some innocent person just trying to get to work or home.
