I have no idea what to do I'm 2 weeks in the dealership doesn't know what to do, they haven't even given me a loaner yet absolutely a joke that I spent 75k on a truck and can't get a loaner. This will definitely be my last ford what a shame t

My service advisor is a moron barely keeps me updated with anything, I just want my truck back so bad at this point, it's at randell Reed planet Ford 365 I made a huge mistake taking it there but was the closest dealership to me, if Ford knows it's bricking the tricks why are the still allowing dealers to update.
Ask for Justin Wright the managing partner. He is always there.

I will be more than happy to fix it and get everything right for you. The BCM is not their fault. Ford sent a bad update out and some dealers are doing it. I fixed it for a dealer Saturday. That being said they still should know when to get help. These dealers think they will exist in a few years and they just don’t realize they won’t

If you need anything let me know I can help. If not contact Randal himself and blow him up until he answers same for Justin. I used to have Justin’s cell. I’ll see if I still do. It’s been years since I spoke to him so I have no pull. Also open a case with ford customer service

So odd. I don’t see anything that stands out as of now unless they also did the BCM update and I can’t see it. I had that happen on a guy I couldn’t see they did it .

Edit: I forgot they already replaced the BCM and tried it again didn't work, now saying they are waiting for Ford tech to get back to them

Ok. Yeah that makes sense. Not gonna fix it. Since the update is bad it will continue to try and load the bad update and continue bricking bcm.

Oh well. Ford you are doing a great job. Keep it up ?

I worked as a professional in IT for 30 years and it was common knowledge not to be in a hurry to apply updates to software or firmware. If I apply an update it is at least 30 days after its first release and after verifying that no one is having problems with it.

Quality control is largely absent today and even Microsoft on which millions rely on for their operating system disbanded its 400 person quality control group in 2016. Since that time their customers became the testers or guinea pigs for updates and patches.

I only apply an update or patch if I know for certain it will fix a real problem I am having with something. I do not do it for grins.

Do you think Ford even knows how to guide them to fix it? I like how they put all this tech and software into the truck, and can't even roll out simple updates without bricking modules. I can't wait to see what problems come with the lightning.

yup at this point how do you even buy a truck from them....... they don't seem to have infrastructure to service their vehicles, their own dealers and service departments are not trained, they have bunch of guys that have learned how to do oil changes or swap your tires but that is about the extend of knowledge. There is more and more sophisticated cars being released... who do you trust ?

And yes I cant wait to see what will happen with Lightning......

Honestly, No. I had someone that was supposed to be a Ford Engineer contact me and said the update was flagged. That was last week as soon as I knew it was a problem. That person said it would be fixed by monday. Yet here we stand. Broken as ever. It should have been PULLED not Flagged. The issue is its all about CYA. SOmeone pushes out a bad update and they have to figure out who to blame rather than fix it. Now there are many people just like you with Bricked BCMs. Ford could have at least tested the update before pushing it.

I really do not get the thought process. Lets just say that person was a Ford Engineer. Honestly there is probably little they could have done. Ford is a company that is reactive instead of proactive. SO they wait until the problems are about to explode then put the fire out. They dont put it out when its a little flare up. They wait until its a 5 alarm all on deck type situation.

The dealer I helped Saturday was told by engineering they had no idea what they are talking about and that they must have done something wrong. So If I was speaking to a engineer that said it was flagged how was it the other engineer had no idea what they were talking about.

Im trying to set up a twitter to make my one and only tweet ever and thats @Ford Motor Company pull the BCM UPDATE THAT IS BRICKING TRUCKS!

A while back I was asked if every module was OTA capable. I said yes but I don’t know ford would do it because the potential for issues like this. I’ve helped many people fix their bad OTAs. Could you imagine had this been pushed as an ota?

It seems ford isn’t testing anything prior to sending it out. Bad habit to get into ford

It's your F'in truck, do whatever you want with it. Do you have a second key on you? Tell them you need it in the parking lot that you can access it. Then coordinate with @Jesse-Infotainment and he can fix it right there. After it's working again tell them to stick it and drive away.

I do agree. Unfortunately though it would be best to work with them to fix it. This also may finally get ford to get into action and see there is a problem with the update. I told this to the person I helped Saturday. I would suggest you let the dealer fix it. That way no one can say that someone else caused the issue. I agree and am not trying to say you’re wrong but this situation with them already replacing or attempted to replace the BCM is getting very messy.

Now what I suggest. Have them install the original BCM. That way no keys need to get programmed and it doesn’t get any more out of hand. If they will put the original BCM in and if they let me I’ll go fix it. I will help them finish the blue cruise updates and get it working.

If they are getting no where with engineering. I will help them they can even call that other dealer if they want to get them to vouch that I bailed them out.

If they aren’t open to any of that let them fix it. Unfortunately if you don’t it could come back later.

@Jesse-Infotainment do you think it's possible to fix it from the parking lot?
I can fix it. The issue is it will need a constant battery charge or it will be dead in a couple hours or less. That will cause issues for your power boost. If they push it outside and no battery charger when I get there it will be dead and take hours to get it to a point I can do anything.

Jesse,

My 21 PB is on version 2.43

Should I turn off OTA updates until FFFFFFord figures this out?
