I don't think it is necessary. I know I didn't change the one in my truck when I upgraded to an H7 some months ago.

Last question! What is the easiest way to reset BMS? One that was mentioned somewhere in this thread or Forscan? Thank you and I owe you one!

Ignition on.....flash high beams 5 times......tap brake pedal three times. Look for battery icon to flash in the IPC to confirm the process went through.

I have a '23 that's been trying to install update for about a week now, it keeps saying update was interrupted, everything was off and battery was charged, update was for door locks and window controls, I ain't got a clue, any help would be appreciated !!!!!

I am going to change the 12V battery under the hood now. It seems this battery which is a H7 is toast. Door update is not going through and battery voltage keeps acting funny! Over the span I had it on charge, it kept charging to a point and dropping back down.

I also have a 23 and the same update is having the same problem for me as well.

Whoa!
If your battery runs fine for everything except an update keep the battery and just trickle charge the thing. Set your auto update as soon as it's maxed and watch it update.
I have this EXACT same issue, low SoC and it won't update. I just run the trickle (tender) and it's updated everytime.
I'll eventually get a battery, it's just not necessary yet.

I’m getting this same exact problem now, update failed when trying to update the window controls. It tried to update twice but failed.

My updates used to go thru without any issues until now.

My last update was November 19th which has caused my Sync to start on the Settings screen.

Since then, I have had the same issue with my 2024 KR PowerBoost. The vehicle cannot be driven during the 9-minute update (BCM-24.3.0), which failed due to an interruption by another process since November 20th.

My battery was tested, BCM updated, and BMS reset due to TSB 24-2295. The 2024 shows the Battery charge on the screen, which is regularly at 14.0v.

I have driven the truck for more than 30 minutes 3 times and attempted the update as soon as I turned it off. The update is still interrupted.

Since September I have had the following updates:

9/27 - SYNC-24.2.0.10
9/27 - ECG-24.2.4.9
10/10 - TCU-24.2.4.10
10/15 - ECG-24.2.5.6.2
11/15 - 10.1.0 (24.2.1.6)
11/19 - 10.1.1

@rugedraw could you please look at my VIN and see what update the tech performed last Friday using FDRS?

@rudgedraw mine had the same issue not being able to download and install the DDM/PDM update, of the trucks you checked did they also recently receive the 10.1.1 TCU update prior to getting the DDM/PDM OTA?

Not sure.......I don't recall specifically. I don't think one thing would affect the other anyway.

I tried manually re-installing the window update 4 times manually and it still says failed because it was interrupted. I tried with head lights switched from auto to completely off, doors unlocked, doors locked , and the key fob far away. I made sure the battery was fully charged. I think this update is broken.

My last update was 10.1.1

1. The repeated attempts at the updates must have killed battery and the dealer replaced it with a new one.

2. The window module update is still failing to install even with a new battery.

3. The dealer opened a case with Ford engineering to see what to do.

Just curious, has anyone else been able to install this window module update?
