Hi there, I was getting an app error saying that I needed to check my 12 V battery system and even my shop said I needed a new battery. I replaced it with an H7 and reset the BCM but still showing the error. What should I do?

Just to make sure, you reset the BMS when you changed the battery (not BCM), correct? I suspect error will go away after you lock truck and let it sit overnight-the BMS will learn the state of battery charge doing that. Resetting BMS tells the BMS that battery is new and adjusts the charging rates as applicable.

That's what I meant, sorry, BMS. I actually replaced the battery yesterday morning without resetting the BMS, the last night I did some research and learned I was was supposed to reset the BMS, So I went to the truck, Did the light flashes and brakes and saw the battery icon flash. and then it did sit overnight.

The notification is from 7:55 which is about when I started my drive to work today, so maybe it's just still sorting itself out.

Nope, that should have been immediate upon resetting the BMS.

Just because a battery is new, doesn't mean it is fully charged at the store.

I don't have a battery charger and live in a Condo with no garage... Should I drive around and wait for it to charge or what should I do here?

When my aux battery failed I replaced it and reset the BMS yet the craptastic Ford app kept alerting me for nearly two weeks that there were battery problems. This is despite the SOC never dropping from 100%.

To add to the fun the alerts for it and for when I had a flat repaired are still showing up in the history from nearly two months ago with no way to clear them out.

The app is such a buggy piece of crap...

Since you don't have a charger I would swing by an auto parts store and get them to check your battery. I just installed a new one yesterday, reset the BMS and all has been fine. I did throw it on a charger before installing but it only needed about an hour to top off.
Where did you purchase? Is there a date code sticker on the battery?

So the way the BMS system works is if you install a battery, it is not fully charged and reset the BMS, the sensor will think that this is a fully charged battery.

Drive at 50 miles or so at highway speed then reset your BMS. Driving with the fan turned on to five or above will help charge the battery more efficiently.

Got a friend, or family member who has one, you could hang out with for a while? Throw it on the charger and watch a game, or whatever?

Power near enough to your parking space at your condo?

I don't know if they rent such things but worth a call to a local auto parts house.

I just installed an on board charger. NOCO Genius 2D. $40.00. Your hood could be closed and the truck locked, with just an extension cord at risk. Plug it in and call it a detailing day.

Its pretty important that it start fully charged. I'd have to find a way.

My brand new one from Wal-mart with a 10/25 date code that i picked up on Tuesday showed 88% charge when I got it home. I let it charge overnight and threw it in yesterday. Did the bms reset. I agree ...definitely would want to start out with a fully charged new one.

HMM, I am going to go throw it on a charger at my brother's house then and see what happens. I bought it from Walmart on Monday and threw it in the truck on Tuesday. It's a H7 Battery with a date code of 09/25. I am a bit shocked it doesn't come fully charged, but Hopefully a charge up will fix it like y'all suggested.

That's a good plan. They do lose some charge sitting on the shelf. I always try to find the one with the newest date code. What was surprising is out of about 7 H8's that were on the shelf only 2 had date stickers...one of 9/25 and the one I got with 10/25. Who knows how long they have been there? I wonder if they have a roll of stickers in the back and can just slap whatever on there....
But yeah, always a good idea to throw a new one on charger and top it off to make sure it (A) is a good battery to begin with and (B) is fully charged .
Good luck! I was happy that I got my first OTA update in a while overnight.

Why did you go with a H8 over H7. I looked and the specifications were exactly the same between the 2 so I went with the H7 due to it being a bit cheaper

Cold cranking amps are higher as you go up....for the wally world ones h6 =760cca
h7=850cca and h8 is 900cca's.
The price was 189$ for all three at my wal-mart....I went with the biggest I could fit in there lol

I think the H7 will be fine...in all honesty the H6 probably is...just seems like the motorcraft ones have been sketchy at best.

Gonna go ahead and post this update. I never charged the battery manually because after about 4 days of daily driving and some highway, the battery charged up with the alternator and the alert cleared.
