DIY SOLUTION - 5 Minutes

2.0kw system. Right out of the dealer lot, in-cab outlets worked fine but when I selected generator mode it would only kick on for a few seconds then fail w/ message “contact dealer for service” (same error message shown previously in this thread). Turning the truck on/off resets the in-cab outlets but as soon as you hit generator mode it will fail again within a few seconds.

Problem found: Factory did not connect orange cables/terminals under the hood

Solution: Pop hood < On driver side near the fender you’ll see a series of cables/connectors/wiring harness < Locate the two cables that are wrapped in orange (one end will be mounted to carpet with a pin/other end will be floating/buried under some other connectors) < Pull the mounted end out of its resting place and remove the protective terminal cap that was inserted into this terminal end (this is just a protective terminal cap, it has green rubber circles on it and will not be reinstalled) < Connect the two orange cables/terminals together < Re-secure harness mount < Done

Generator mode, outlets, switches all work perfect now.

Moral of the story...orange wrapped cables are associated with Pro Power/Generator Mode. Make sure the orange cables/terminals are connected to one another. Again, mine were not connected under the hood. There is also a connection point under the rear most driver side fender (under/behind the bed outlet box) you can check.

Thanks for this! I just got back from Line-X and had this same issue. Looked under rear driver side and found the cables disconnected and dangling. Plugged them back in and all is good. You’d think they’d make a checklist of cables that they disconnect to make sure the put everything back they way they found them. Thanks again!

Took it back to the dealer this morning. It was exactly as I suspected: when they sprayed in the bed liner they forgot to reconnect it properly.

Unfortunately, I suspect this is going to be a common occurrence until dealers get up to speed on how the hardware in the new PB hybrids work.
What was disconnected for spray in liner or undercoat? My 7.2 rarely works and when it rains or has been washed never works .

This literally JUST happened to me today. Got it back from Line-x, pro power throwing that screen. Thanks to this thread I checked the orange panel connections and they where just hanging disconnected.

New to the forum. This thread saved me some anxiety and a trip to the dealer. Just picked up my 22 powerboost from getting a bed liner put in and got this warning. Looked under the driver‘s side and sure enough those two cables were left unplugged. Thank!

Had the truck at the dealer to replace the vent covers that had the handles fallen off when we got the truck, dealer had the dash almost totally apart to replace them, when we got into the truck to leave it had the same error code as previously shown in this thread.

Another tech put the FDSR laptop scanner on and even trying to clear the DTC it kept coming back. Showed an open circuit to the front outlet, so looks like the tech that had the dash apart missed connecting something as he put things back together.

It was already the end of the day and the first tech had already gone home, so looks like we get to rebook another appointment to have dash taken apart again.

Update, the tech had not fully seated a plug on the wiring harness, took longer to take the dash apart than to push the plug together!

Awhile ago I made a recommendation to my dealer that part of their pre-delivery preps should include going thru the truck and ensuring all plugs were fully and properly seated...

All fine and dandy, but had to pull the dash apart to get at the plug.

Now if the tech had opened his eyes when he restarted the truck, he would have noticed the error message right away.

Overall am happy with the dealers service, they did fix the error, and paid for the H8 battery that I had purchased for the truck to fix the low battery warnings and supplied the bigger battery sleeve.
