Gonna go ahead and post this update. I never charged the battery manually because after about 4 days of daily driving and some highway, the battery charged up with the alternator and the alert cleared.
Who wants to tell him ...

HMM, I am going to go throw it on a charger at my brother's house then and see what happens. I bought it from Walmart on Monday and threw it in the truck on Tuesday. It's a H7 Battery with a date code of 09/25. I am a bit shocked it doesn't come fully charged, but Hopefully a charge up will fix it like y'all suggested.

The manufacurers put a charge on them when they are produced but it may not be at 100%. Plus it can then sit in a warehouse or on the shelf for months before being bought. This allows it to drain down some as well. AGM batteries seem to be more susceptible to this than the older flooded cell batteries were.

That's fair, I never had a car with this much telemetry before, so whenever I'd replace batteries it was just put in and go. I'm sure in 4 years when this battery dies, I'll be sure to charge it before putting it in.

Yeah. Used to be if the battery got weak just go buy a new one and replace it. The alternator would top it off in 8-10 miles and done.

Now it's all about fuel efficiancy so Ford's engineers in their infinite wisdom have implemented the most anemic 12v charching strategy immaginable. What took 15-20 minutes of driving now takes days to weeks for it to actually charge the battery. If we're lucky... All to save 1/256th of a gallon of gas....

You can tell me, this is a safe space.
Short answer = Don't be surprised if the warning comes back, as soon as you don't drive it for a few days.

Longer answer.

1) It is absolutely common for batteries off the store shelves, to not be at full charge. In fact, it would be freakishly rare, if it was.

2) Ford's factory charging strategy, according to people who monitor it in real time, cite that the highest it will take your batteries is 80%

3) By not charging your battery first but resetting the BMS, you told the truck that whatever that state of charge was, was 100%

4) Under that condition, sub par performance and likely shortened battery life, is nearly guaranteed.
