Very true…..I can say this. Both the Honda Pilot and Covic the daughter and Son in Law have are quieter than the Powerboost even with the MegaOhm silencer installed."nor does it provide any extra bit of safety to anyone"
Of course a reverse beeper adds a bit of safety. If a ped is not looking they will likely hear the beeper and look. Also, the beeper will come on as soon as truck is put into reverse, before it even begins to move, giving more time for peds to react.
In some situations it's not possible for a driver to see every possible person that may cross their path. It's also possible for a driver to simply fail at their job of properly checking before backing.
For these reasons I'd like to add one to my (non-powerboost) truck. Just need to find the right one. Not too loud or adjustable volume would be nice. Or just baffle it a bit.
These idiots in Washington that are mandating this crap have zero clue about vehicles or how loud they are.
I blame Ralph Nader for this bullshit, his ass should be shipped off to Somalia
