The truck will auto brake even if you have for foot pressing on it lightly. There's bushes at the kids daycare that triggers my auto brake probably 20-25% of the time I back in and get close enough.

So I had to try.
1) Foot on brake
2) No Brake
I have a friend that has a F450 dually with all the bells and whistles and his let him back into one of those yellow concrete poles in a parking lot.AFTER the accident the brakes locked up and chimes went off and wouldnt let him pull away till he shutoff and restarted vehicle. I still actually use the old fashioned way ,crank my neck around and look.So the question is: would you still have backed into him if you never had the nanny? I'm only half serious, and expect the answer is "yes".
But I do see what I percieve to be a significant dumbing down of drivers every day, especially in winter, that I attribute to a whole generation growing up with vehicles that all but drive themselves. Young people have never driven a rig without anti-lock brakes, stability or traction control. All good things, but they deprive young drivers of the physics lessons offered by rigs without 'em. #1 lesson? Two masses cannot occupy the same space at the same time.![]()
Sometimes Not !!I had to laugh how a funny thread about doing something dumb turned into a scolding.
Sarcasm apparently doesn't translate on the internet.
