I have had the same experience with my 2022 XLT PB. Light braking force will bring regen limits all the way up which will cause the rear end to skid out if you are on a slight curve. Abs will kick in eventually and turn off the regen once it sees differential speed at the wheels but after the delay in the system its too late and you are already sideways. (No issues with locking up the wheels or skidding by just letting off the throttle)

I have done extensive testing with all drive modes.
-Most people say using slippery mode will reduce regen. But my finding is that this is not true unless you are in 4H. Using slippery mode will detune the throttle position map and auto shift you to 4X4. In CT we often do no have enough snow to fully coat the roads and use 4X4 for an extended period of time without fear of over loading the diffs (I do not have 4A because it is an XLT). This is a shame because the truck handles & brakes exceptionally well in 4H.

-You can push the 2H button to put the truck back in 2wd while staying in slippery mode. (This will keep the less sensitive throttle settings but regenerative braking goes back to full strength)

I have asked @Ford Motor Company representatives if there is a solution for people who do not have 4A and all i get is "I'm not sure, talk to your local dealer."

I spoke to my local dealer and they had no resolution and said the truck was behaving as expected. They said if i wanted further investigation they would need a ford service engineer to come out and look (this would require my truck to stay at the dealer and off the road until they came to look at it) which could take weeks or months according to them.

To me it is a simple parameter change, but the dealer said they have no way of making the edit.
-When in slippery mode keep regen off in both 2H and 4H. (I do not care about getting the best gas milage in slippery or unsafe conditions and ford already has this regen parameter limited / turned off in 4H)

Anyhow, best of luck to you. I have not gotten anywhere with @Ford Motor Company on the issue but have a ticket logged in their corporate system regarding the safety issue. If anything serious happens I have a record of trying to get the issue resolved. ( I suggest you do the same)

Your truck behavior is different than mine. Shifting to 4H (or 4A as I have in my Platinum) results in dramatically diminished regen braking as shown on the EV Coach screen. Switching to Slippery mode causes a shift to 4A and the same diminished regen braking. Shifting back to 2H while staying in Slippery mode keeps the diminished regen in effect... no where close to full strength.

There were a lot of posts on this in 2021 when PBs first came out. Individuals driving in Normal mode (where we want/get max regen from the rear tires) were having issues on icy surfaces. Most discovered Slippery resolved the problem. But a few had ongoing issues like you are experiencing. There may very well be an config/setting/tuning issue with a subset of the PB trucks.. Hope you get this resolved as that behavior is dangerous to you, yours and others.

Thanks for confirming. I wonder if they have a different set of parameters for the Platinum (4A) drivetrain. I also used the EV coach when experimenting to see what the limits of regen were.

It has been 4 years (and too many sleep cycles) but I seem to recall this issue with PBs only happened to vehicles without 4A. Perhaps it is different parameters.

Take a video off EV coach and reduced regen while in Slippery 4H and then the same driving sequence after shifting to 2WD. If there is a difference I would show Ford and raise a case. Maybe even approach NHTSB. Stay safe.

This is exactly my experience as well with 4A and 4H and also shown in the EV Coach display.

Had a dealer look at that truck, they said they found nothing wrong, when I got home I looked at my dash cam and seen they drove ~1.5 km around the block on dry snow free pavement and did nothing else.

I'm going to get rid of the truck.
