I prefer to maintain a constant speed and lock out gears as needed to optimize fuel economy rather than being someone that is going 80 just because I'm going downhill or 50 uphill. In the long run, your savings are likely minimal, and you'd probably be better off just setting cruise at the speed limit of fuel economy is really that big of a concern.
I was quite impressed with the achievable mpg after the first few months of ownership, and now I drive how I drive without any thought towards mileage. Now that I’m aware of the limits, the rest is on me.

Just traded in my 23' PB Platinum with almost 16K miles on it for a Raptor. My hwy mpg's had gotten to the point of laughable. My last 100 mile trip in flat Florida yielded 14.8mpg cruising around 75mph. Yes, I had a 2" level and 33" AT tires, but that is some pretty horrible gas mileage. It has gotten progressively worse as the miles went up. The Raptor gets 17.5 mpg so far.....

Strange. Almost like the mapping kept getting richer for some reason.

edit* I just passed 14k and no change. OEM tires and suspension. 21-ish mpg overall.

The powerboost is not a highway cruiser above 70mph. As others have said, it's a heavier Ecoboost at that point. The electric motor is 46hp, it helps you get off the line fast (not saving gas) or it will help you cruise at low speed with the engine off. That's where it shines.

Mine is a work truck and usually is carrying *something*, anywhere from 50-1000 pounds. I cannot seem to get over 20.7mpg average for the life (9k miles). If I am on the fwy cruising 73, I'm constantly hanging at 20.5ish and every slight hill in the road will lower that. The level ground thing is huge, and any time you can cruise at 55 you will increase your average. I have a shortcut that I take instead of the highway and that section at 55-60 is my only way to increase the overall average (20.8 is lifetime high). Even then I seem to have peaked as the other driving drops it back to 20.7.

The best time you'll have in this truck MPG-wise is to sit in stop and go traffic with Adaptive Cruise on. It'll stay in electric the whole time and increase your average. Otherwise it's a booster when you want the juice and a low speed cruiser. 75mph will kill your mpg.

It is called a *power*boost after all. I don't think Ford ever marketed it as a gassaverboost - even though it can do that under the correct conditions.

This.
It doesn't even have the word Hybrid anywhere to be seen.

Tell me one other EV capable Hybrid in the world that does not have the word Hybrid proudly displayed somewhere.

The Powerboost, regardless of your opinion of it, is an amazingly unique mass produced vehicle. Which amazes me more now that it has entered its 4th model year of production. Back in 2021 I would never have predicted that.

Note: I understand that the new Tacoma will be available as a midsized truck in the Powerboost Genre?

75mpg will kill your mpg.
If by kill you mean drag it down to 20 then yes. The 5.0 guys have a 20mpg club for goodness sakes! For the PB it's just called ownership.

23 XLT PB, stock everything, 14K miles since new. 89 octane, up to 10% ethanol. Screenshot is from yesterday; return trip home with 1000’ elevation descent over 50+ miles in Slippery Mode at speeds of 45-55mph. Same trip, earlier in the day in opposite direction, (sorry, no screen shot)
20 mpg. I love my PowerBoost.

Yes, speed kills mpg. Drag has an exponential relationship to speed. I’m just blown away that a v-8 smoked it for mpg. it’s not like I was towing or even running hills. Heck I was in Ohio, Indiana, and illinois! Pretty flat.

oh well. I may yet explore options, and I may just say screw it

Mileage is good if you stay out of boost. It will hold gears longer than an EB with the e-motor assisting and it'll be at 10lbs or so before it downshifts. I've got a lot of hills out here and will play with either down shifting or slowly notching down the cruise a few mph on the way up a hill and bring it back up on the way down. With the truck doing the steering and nothing else to do, it's cheap entertainment.

If you update the PCM, which you do have pending, it will clear out everything it's learned from the previous owner.

I’m saying you should average +20mpg by accident. I have driven my truck every which way possible over the past year and I am averaging 21. I can’t explain your low number, but the EPA mileage numbers bear out with these trucks. The PB is 24 overall and mine is 21 because I drive above the speed limit regularly. My Outback averages 23 instead of 27 for the same reason.

My 2021 Platinum Powerboost was rated 24
But my 2022 KingRanch Powerboost is rated 23

The IWE was removed on my 2022. I'm not saying that is the sole reason for the reduction, but it has to be part of the equation.

Ford wouldn't give away even 1 mpg easily. There has to be good reason.
My own opinion of the IWE is adios! Good riddance!

Does my 22 ESOF have IWE? That’s the wheel thing right?
