Just trying to find some way to get rid of more heat to the air. If I can add a thermostatic air cooled oil cooler I'm dumping engine heat one way or another. I do agree a larger radiator is the easiest, just not so sure one's available.
Isn't F-350 available/come with (some) dual alternators? Each of which could be upgraded? Drop in a lifepo4 as a buffer and hook uo a 3600W inverter. Does that get you an interim solution? ( dunno your need, just thinking outloud.)
Do we have one? If not, has anybody added one? Trying to add cooling capacity somehow, and cooling engine oil is just another way of skinning the cat.
Thoughts?
Now look, we can't have clear concise and accurate posts here. The is the dam@@ internet and we can't have that kinda thing going on. At the very least you need to challenge the battery used, second guess the engineers, or berate the owners expectations. Get with it man!
No confusion, I've modeled the Ramcharger quite a bit using similar thinking. Not that I think semi efficiency, which is amazing relative to it's load, has anything to do with pickup efficiency. But you'd likely agree so lets skip past that and let me just ask you this: We know the...
I'm going to offer a suggestion: I suspect the tranny/engine coolant heat exchanger is fed by the water pump and being delivered engine temperature coolant. Is there another way if could be expected to help warm a cold transmission?
This might also explain why running a lower temp...
Don't let me pretend to have modeled this, for the reaction above is much more knee jerk than that. As to my thoughts, I'm thinking it's not the motor per say. If we're to double the towing rating, typical of 1 ton pickups, we're talking about a serious generator and substantial battery...
Regarding a plug-in hybrid SuperDuty class truck - Not an easy ask.
I see only two reasonable directions worthy of pursuing. A planetary drive would have to be hella stout for something like a 1 ton application and be expensive/risky to design, while a serial implementation feels like it...
I’m certainly not going to take a ford forum down the ramcharger path, but I did reserve one during the announcement,of the thing. Should it all work out it’s about perfect for me. The PB is mostly an interim for me.
Now, do I trust Ram? No. but then ask me about my F-150 repairs...
Since my powerboost is soon to be at ford getting a transmission rebuild, I’m leaning towards tweaking it a bit for greater reliability and/or maintenance. Suggestions?
I’d swap pans to something with a drain, but I read the MHT has no 3rd part pans for it. I’d add a fluid dipstick but don’t...
Having just had the phasers on the '18 done, and the 10r80 rebuild scheduled, I can confirm. While most folks poo-poo extended warranties, I won't own anything that isn't a Toyota without one.
The darn thing needs LiFePo4 too. By its small nature its acruing a lot of charge cycles in a hurry and LFP tolerates that much better. At a power density cost sadly. Worse, there has not been a lot of density increase, so unless they find more space....
Well I'll be darned. Seemed like I got the "it's not used for towing" from this forum. Meh. Glad to know more! Thanks! Is there any convenient way to tell when it's adding electric torque?

OK, I"ll bite, and perhaps learn something:
Are you trying to tell us they hybrid batt is called/used pulling hills? That alone I'd not beleived. When you reference the extra 30hp while towing I'm assuming you're telling is it harness the drive motor while towing. I'm pretty certain it does...
