25,000 Miles on my 2022 Truck

5.0 Liter Engine

Transmission Fluid changed?
No.

Issues Encountered:
- clunkiness if I change fuel octane and drive modes often
- sometimes takes a while to go from 8 -> 5 @ 50 mph when I need to goose it.

Been mostly OK, not the smoothest 10 speed I've ever driven

None, It did seem to shift a bit smoother after the fluid change though. I do prefer the shift-logic in sport mode over all other modes.

10k 2024 5.0 xlt 3.73 assembled in KC.

Waiting for it to fall out..

Upshifts like a bronc when the gate opens, down shifts like a peterbuilt gave me a love tap, it's the most expensive carnival ride I didn't get in line up for.
36 vehicles, mostly trucks, mostly Fords.
Honestly hard shifts are intermittent but it'd the worst tranny/software I've ever owned.

Don't need another diesel. If something better smaller then a 250 was avail, I'd take a bath and trade it tomorrow.

Ford won't reset the tables.
So leaning towards forscan (didn't want to), a tranny flush and adding some bipolar meds.

I want to love the truck, but if that doesn't work she's going off a cliff. I rather dump 60k into a 60s.

sorry to hear. Forscan is free and very easy to use. I've found that switching drive modes and fuel octane a lot really confuses things.

And transmission drain + new filter makes things better a lot of the time.

Yes @ 50,000 miles

Issues Encountered:
Jerky and clunky shifting (especially on downshifts). Dealer said nothing was out of the ordinary. Seems to be smoother after fluid change.

21 5.0 Lariat 4x4 3.31 e-locker. Transmission went out (45k miles) and had to be replaced. CDF drum I assume was the reason. According to dealership transmission went bye-bye and 1 and 7 gear went out. I got everything new except the housing. They re-used the housing. I got an updated CDF drum transmission. So far so good for 10k miles and it has been clunky only on cold (rarely) but it’s not as bad as the other clunk.

No.

Issues Encountered:

Harsh shifting from 3 to 4 and 4 to 3, as well as 7 to 8. Took it to the dealership. They reprogrammed the PCM, checked fluid level, performed a pinpoint test, a line pressure test, cleared transmission tables, and performed a drive cycle.

That was done in Feb of 2025. The work that they did made a slight difference. I still get harsh shifts from 4 to 3, but nowhere as frequently as I did prior and no more from 7 to 8.

FDRS software update done end of Feb 2025. Really improved after that. So far it’s been really smooth.

2022 CCSB 2.7 FX4 XLT High built 6/22 and 12k miles on it.

Upon bring it home, the trans crossmember bolts were not even threaded on. The nuts were basically hand threaded as if someone was supposed to come around and torque it later.

5k miles. Trans was underfilled from the factory by 3.3 qts. Dealer filled to normal and sent me on my way instead of doing the right thing and replacing the transmission. This reduced the oscillating vibration around 50-60mph and got rid of the shuddering under load.

Trans still shifted like shit, so valve body was replaced at like 7k, which I think also means fluid was replaced. I was still pushing for a new trans, but Groove ford (now autonation ford centennial) told me the clutches looked new.

At 11k, it felt like the vibration was intermittently coming back between 50-60mph. Its not consistent even today. I took the truck into Autonation Ford Centennial and did a ride along. They acknowledged the vibration, but pointed the finger at tires and asked me to get them balanced somewhere else ("it will be cheap" they said). I balanced and rotated the tires...still have the FUUUCKING vibration.

I still have random clunks that shift you in your seat. Today I an upshift from 3 to 4 that flared about 500rpm, unusual but maybe not too worrying? The first shift of the day is generally (60-70% of the time) very hard unless I first put the truck in drive, then reverse, then drive again. Honestly, while its shifting better than it ever has (I didnt mention the half dozen resets), its still worse than literally every other vehicle Ive driven by a mile. I hope it fails and the 10yr 60k top tier granger warranty pays off. I'm moving to AZ in a month so hopefully the dealers are better down there.

Overall good so far. Occasionally can feel the shifts when 2nd (rarely) and 4th (almost never) are skipped but I wouldn't call it clunky. Once I had a hesitation to get into gear when I shifted from R into D quickly while still moving backwards slightly due to traffic but it may have been a safety lockout and has only happened the one time. I also still sometimes get the buzzing/vibration at high load/low RPM in 10th gear that many have reported but can avoid it by giving it some throttle to force a downshift to 9th when approaching a hill or just using Sport mode to hold lower gears. The intensity of that vibration has lessened as I have added miles to the truck but it's still present.

I was cautious about getting this truck due to issues we had with the 10 speed in a 2020 Mustang we owned but the truck has been much better so far.

Yes, fluid change only, 30,090.

Transmission output shaft seal leaked and was replaced twice.
95% of shifts are smooth and 5% are rough.

No fluid change. At 5000-6000 miles a year I may never do it.

I've had zero trans issues and have been quite satisfied with the manner of shifting. Very minimal lag between gears with a mild firmness in the lower gears and an undetectable shift in the higher gears.

Coming up on 150K miles.
CDF drum and tranny rebuild about 50,000 miles ago. Fluid change done around 70,000 and during that rebuild. Coming due after my current road trip.

Big issue now is that if I am rolling in electric mode and step on the gas, the engine will get up to about 1300/1400 RPM, no revving, even though my foot is on the floor and just sitting there coasting. Only way to get it to engage is totally back off of it and then it will go.
