That's a beautiful truck and it's great to hear Granger is still hitting it out of the park with pricing and customer service. Can you go into more detail as to how you modified the Backflip to fit the Elevate rack system? I would like to do the same but was told they are not compatible.
Got the same response, but don’t fully believe in them.
Two things.
1. it is hard to make the rail vertical, you need to add some thin spacer between the rack rail and the tonneau cover rail. Many examples on Amazon reviews. https://a.co/d/amhaMJO
2. Since the space between the tonneau rail becomes more narrow for additional rack rail. I need to move the tonneau lock clip a little bit to the middle, or I couldn’t open or close the cover very smoothly.
Looking from the tail like this:
Bed left | rack rail | tonneau rail | ——bed open space ——- | tonneau rail | rack rail | bed right

I too bought from Chip, and Shelby was awesome. I did the purchase entirely over the phone and had a shipper pick up my truck and bring it to the Bay Area for me, so I never got to meet them both but I have nothing but good things to say about them.

Ford even shipped my truck to them without a wiper motor, and Chip sorted it out. He kept me updated with pictures and went above and beyond in handling the sale professionally.

10/10 - would 100% buy from them again and recommend everyone else to consider them too.

May I ask how much you paid for the shipment? And how did you handle the registration?

This was two years ago, so I'm a bit hazy. Shipping was about $2000, not the cheapest quote but included insurance and was from a company I trusted.

To register, I went to the DMV in Pleasanton, they did the VIN check etc, and then asked me to get the truck weighed. I just drove it in to get it weighed, but some people remove the spare wheel and take it in with very little fuel to minimize the weight. I got a bit of a run around till I found a place that would weigh it - the landfill on Vasco road - https://maps.app.goo.gl/94fS1n1247J55mBL6

I think I also had to get a smog check, annoying given its a brand new vehicle.

With the weight and smog check certificates in hand, I went back to the DMV and at that point I paid the registration fees which included the eye watering sales tax.

Yes, as @thudnblunder mentioned, if registering in CA, be prepared for tax shock (CA DMV has an online fee and tax calculator you can use), have a smog check done and to get your truck weighed (search for nearest Cat Scales location-- cheap and usually associated with truck stops). Also, don't forget to bring lots of cash, a check or money order to avoid the high DMV's credit/debit card service fees which can be several hundred of dollars tacked on due to high sales price of the truck. Truck will be considered a commercial vehicle and hybrid (the latter didn't seem to increase the cost in the fee estimator, but I fear it will be something they use to get extra money from me at a later date). After coming back to my local DMV a second time to pay the taxes and fees (forgot about the service charge), I was quickly in and out with, to my surprise, my license plates in hand (no wait).

If you purchase from Granger, you will want to wait until they send you the remaining title / registration paper work that DMV will need to register the vehicle in CA -- comes in about a week after purchase -- so you can do everything at one visit (assuming you had the smog check and weight certificate done ahead of time). Note, CA DMV has a pretty short deadline for out of state vehicle registrations and if I recall correctly, the clock starts ticking once the vehicle crosses the state line.

I didn't ship it, but from Granger, IA to Detroit, MI I was quoted ~$1K through Fisher Shipping. I use them all the time for work. Granger is handling the registration. Thankfully, Michigan has no emission testing, VIN Inspection, etc. required for new vehicle registration.

Congratulations on the new truck. I'm curious as to what your Payload is with that powerboost? Would you mind sharing your payload sticker, would like to know how it compares to my similarly equipped non-powerboost.
Mine came in at 1696 lbs.
Is this what you want? Sorry for the quality. It was dark when I got back home.

Very detailed. Thank you so much.

congrats on your truck arriving this week. My 2024 Tremor is being built this week ( ordered May 5) and hoping to head out to Iowa late this month or early Sept . I also live south of Portland and will be going through Wyoming/ Salt Lake and eventually Boise.
That's excellent! And soon, congrats to you as well! Once my build was started, things went into supersonic and the truck became available within a couple of weeks.

My tentative scheduled roadtrip from Granger will be 7~10 days as follows:
  • Mount Rushmore National Memorial, Keystone, SD
  • Black Hills National Forest, Custer State Park, SD
  • Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming
  • Mud Volcano, Yellowstone, Wyoming
  • Old Faithful, Yellowstone, Wyoming
  • Caribou-Targhee National Forest, Idaho
  • Bridger-Teton National Forest, Wyoming
  • Twin Falls, Idaho
  • Home

That will be the trip of a lifetime if you have not already done that. We did a small portion of that when I was a kid and I hope to do something like you have layed out with my PB when I retire. The pic with my folks station wagon may give away how long ago we did this trip. :)

Mt Rushmore is like the Grand Canyon, pictures do not do justice to the magnitude of this treasure.

Nope, the payload is on the yellow sticker, Tire and Loading info. Although this is very interesting.
My 2021 Lariat, non-powerboost, 157" WB Max Tow is -250lbs less GVWR as yours seems to have a stronger front axle at +300lbs over what my truck has I wonder what the differences are there or why? or do all the powerboosts have this 'heavier' duty front axle because of the hybrid system...

Second image is what I was curious about.

Yeah, the Mrs thinks i'm crazy to entertain buying a truck from Iowa when i live in VA bc she thinks the savings doesnt outweigh the hassle.
side note...i secretly want an Expedition over my F150 but i know deep down i love having that 6.5' bed more haha
That was pretty much the response from all my neighbors when I got back to Phoenix. "You bought it where? How did you get it here? Why would you do that when there's a Ford dealer just 3 miles away?" When I mention the extra $10,000 in my pocket and not the local dealers, it became clear to them.

great route. Been to many of those when I drove from Texas to Oregon several years ago. To bad you can't add Devils Tower in Wyoming as not in your flight path , but truly an amazing place to visit. Iconic scene filmed there from close encounters of the third kind
