I may be wrong on this, as the Ford parts website isn't great, especially on mobile, but it looks like the hybrid battery has an MSRP of ~$310, part number ML3Z-10B687-B.

I can't find yet the listing for the Powerboost, but the Ford Escape non-plugin Hybrid battery is WAY more battery than the Powerboost has and here is its retail

I think most truck buyers would best make the PB vs EB decision based on whether you'd use the generator/battery capabilities that come with the PB or not. I'm not convinced fuel savings would pay back for most buyers but once we have longer term resale/residual value results that may become more clear.

It's hard to justify the upgrade for fuel mileage alone. I'm currently averaging about 6-7 mpg over my 18 EB on my daily commute, but when I get out onto open freeway trips it's about 1-2 better from what I've seen. Making up 3,000ish in fuel is tough.

Update, I did find this:

Not cheap but not crazy. Maybe in the future they'll be more companies offering replacements and the price will go down (and maybe even the capacity will go up).

I passed on the PB thinking I couldn't justify it /w fuel savings. Plus I was, and still am, concerned about what a Hybrid choice would mean for payload. We are close to GVWR when we hit the road w/ the boat as is. I would use the generator a bit but not a ton.

The one reason I do wish I would have bought it is the ability to run the AC with the ICE engine not running. Last weekend we spent about 20min wiping down our boat and left the truck running to keep it cool for our dog who was inside. That's 20min of idle in the EB, PB would have been considerably less ICE runtime.

Oh well, based on where Ford is going they are soon going to force our hand and only deliver hybrid of EV choices. Rumor is this will be the last gen of an ICE Mustang. If they are willing to cut the V8 out of the mustang I have to believe trucks are not far behind. Next truck I assume will be a hybrid.

HA! Sorry Frank. I feel for you Florida residents. On many levels. :)
Seriously, If I could drive up there and buy it, I would still save money. It's well over $3k here for the same warranty

I went for the PB not for the mileage but for the 7.2kVa “maintenance-free” generator for boondocking and the ability to have the A/C on during idle etc. - quality of life enhancements, not efficiency.

For what it’s worth the battery is tiny. It’s 1.5kWh.

For the sake of reference my eMTB has a 630Wh battery.

The PB battery will not be expensive to replace in 8 years. We might even have bigger battery options by then.

Like others have mentioned, gas savings alone probably isn't enough to justify buying a PB over EB. The extra features you get with the PB may or may not be worth it depending on how you use it.

Also, some states make hybrid vehicles pay extra to register the plates every year. I think here is $100 extra a year. Just something else to consider.

I've read Tesla replacement is $10,000 to $15,000 but that's fully electric. I would guess $5,000 is right for a hybrid battery replacement.

Electric and hybrid is great and definitely the future. But I feel were still in the Wright Brothers phase. I went ecoboost.
A Tesla battery is more integral and HUGE compared to the watch battery strapped to the bottom of our trucks, too.
