I have a 24 with just over 3700 miles on it. This is my first PB and have nothing to compare with it. When I remote start, the ICE kicks in and when warm, ICE kicks off. As soon as I get close to the vehicle the ICE kicks in and when I back out of the driveway, the vehicle goes into electrical mode. When driving on the highways, ICE stays on unless I take my foot of the pedal and coast for a while. In city type driving, I get into electrical mode a lot. Currently, combined driving I'm getting 19.8 MPG. I was hoping to get better. I try to drive in ECO mode as much as I can remember to shift into that mode. The vehicle is faulted to normal mode. I wish it would stay in the mode last selected.
I go into electric mode around the city alot also but it comes out of electric alot faster than my 21. Also I found that eco was less fuel efficient than normal on my 21 so I haven't played with eco yet on 24. I believe there are some threads on here discussing eco vs normal.

I am experiencing the same with my 2024 versus my 2022. The 22 would kick into electric mode much more frequently and for longer periods of time/distance than my 24 has. MPG is less (aside from winter fuel and colder temps). I noticed the drop in MPG right out of the gate in September/October and chalked it up to a break-in curve, but MPG remained low through mild November days with about 1500-2000 miles on the odometer.

My 22 had rough shifts and mysterious dash/Sync resets but had sweet MPG.

My 24 has smooth shifts and normal 12V electrical behavior but worse-than-expected MPG.

If I had to pick, I think the 24 is better overall. I just wish I could have a mix of my 22 and 24.

My 21 did not have a moonroof. My 24 does. Saw this post on another thread where @JJLikesIt truck wasn’t going into auto off at stop lights. He thought maybe truck was always trying to keep cabin warm so he closed the moonroof and now truck does auto off.

I decided to try this tonight so only time will tell. However it is -17 Celsius ( 1.4F) here today. I always have heat set to 21 ( 70) and auto fan on high. First thing I noticed was that after a couple minutes of closing the roof panel my auto high actually turned down to low for the first time since I got the truck in December. I then noticed that it was staying in electric much longer than before. And my mileage coming home was 11.7L/100km Normally on the same trip from my mother in laws to home it’s consistently been high 12 or into the 13s

This has just been one drive but I wonder if the heat dissipation through the big glass roof was keeping my fans on high, thus sucking more electricity when in electric only mode and forcing truck to come out of electric sooner. Only time will tell but it definitely appeared different on tonight’s drive. This would make sense also since temps have not gone above freezing since I got the truck.

If you have your heat on 74 or above the truck will run way more often than you think to keep it warm in the cabin. Yes, even stopped at a stop light when it's fully warmed up.

Trucks still doing this, but I have found if I put it in park (say at a stop light) and turn it off and back on, it will drive completely normal (using electric mode when able) until I turn it off and let it cool down. Tested this on multiple trips now. Engine temp would stabilize around 200F and never go into electric mode once warmed, but if I restarted the truck it would immediately drive how its supposed to.

Well, heat rises, and there is a big hole on the roof . . .

I actually drove my Miata through the winter with the top down. Then again, I was in a suit, with a cashmere coat or duster over it, with an extra-long alpaca scarf and a hat.

Still, I had to turn the heat down!

I feel like your “winter” in Nevada is a little different than winter here

My 22 was "normal" until recently. Anytime I was less than 45 mph, the truck would go into electric mode as long as the battery was charged. Letting off of the accelerator or touching the breaks, electric mode would kick in.
Now, sometimes it still has this behavior, sometimes it will not go into electric for the entire drive (even when stopped).
As noted, after turning the truck off and back on it starts behaving "normally".

The behavior seemed to change after the emission PCM update. (I know, should not be related. The truck went in for an oil change, PCM update recall and break line recall and came out a different truck)
Once the weather calms down, I plan to bring it back to the dealer.

While I haven't noticed any changes in the EV behavior of my 2022 KingRanch Powerboost, I believe that it would indeed be a PCM update that would have the necessary coding for the described behavior. Possibly in addition to a BECM update, but I don't think it would be required.

My PB in summer will start in electric mode, in the winter electric mode will not work until engine warmed up and there is heat in the interior.

If you turn off the HVAC, in winter it should still be able to be non-start hybrid. The HVAC calling for heat will start the ICE if it's not in it. We really need an option to force ice start on remote start. As of now it's basically a climate function and not remote start. I like to get some heat in the motor before putting any appreciable load on it. The number one wear point is the pistons wearing on the cylinder walls when cold.

I haven't noticed anything different except that like last winter, the hybrid batt doesn't last as long and mpg takes a big hit. 20F seems to be an important number for it.

Summer mode = 23-26, topping 30mpg a few times.

Winter mode is 16-19, with a few in the low 20s.

Still having the issue. I tried to reset all adaptive tables in forscan, as well as reboot the PCM module and no-dice. I can get 6-7 miles of electric only near my house before the engine temp gets to above 170 and the electric mode kicks off. Is anybody aware of a spot in Forscan that will let you know the reason for the engine being on, like the 2021/22 models had on the center screen?

On a side note, I disabled the adaptive tables for the transmission (and cleared the tables), and the transmission drives unbelievably smoother.

My 2024 KR PB will start in the garage with the cold temperatures over the past three weeks and be in electric mode. This is right after I unplugged it from my NOCO 5X1.

I get electric mode driving down my street away from the house.

Just how far can your truck travel in EV mode only? I'd love to see the High Voltage battery SOC limits on your truck.

Depends on the road I'm traveling on, but most near me are down hill going away from the house so it stays in electric for much longer than on the return trip. My SOC iirc would top out around 64%.
