Once they got the necessary pre-order pictures of your truck, why do you have to leave the truck?

He asked if I could leave it, parts come in tomorrow and it’s easier for him to get it done if the trucks already there, they ubered me home. I have other vehicles so I’m ok with him keeping the truck

The new service writer at my dealer actually rolled his eyes at me last week, when I mentioned some info from this forum about the recall.

I responded to his BS attitude with "I have to stay on top of the problems with my pickup, since Ford and you guys don't have the best track record." That got his attention and I think we came to an understanding after that.

He stepped out to take the pictures of the odometer and vin plate, and even said something nice about like the color combo and wheels on my pickup......maybe my next visit will be better with this new guy, now that he knows I don't accept BS answers and I'm armed with a little more information than most owners that they deal with.

Makes more sense in that context.
I too have alternative vehicles and would be more than willing to accommodate someone trying to accommodate me.

Believe it or not, I WANT to return to being an ambassador of the dealership I have purchased Fords from for more than a quarter century. I certainly was an ambassador for most of those years. But something changed between them being bought out by private equity team, along with the cultural cancer of Covid. Man did so much change so quickly.

Just got off the phone with another local service department at different dealership then where I got my truck from. Told me I have to schedule a service appt. They must get the serial numbers off my current axles, take pictures and then order the axles/hubs through special parts ordering processing. Parts get ordered and usually within 2-5 days new axles come in and then they will do the replacements. So much F....ing drama to get a new axles.

Dumb question, does the original axle look like this from both sides? Meaning, if I am checking to see if I have the max tow axle and/or is broken, should I be checking both sides?

No he said Serial numbers off the current axles. Must take pics of door tag and VIN too.

I'm not saying that there aren't serial numbers on the axles, but I absolutely guarantee you that if there is, you can't take a picture of them while they are pressed into the hub and inside your axle tube. The ONLY thing visible is the head of the unsheared bolt. ???

Snakebitten, I know I said serial numbers? So, I'm going to schedule it and see what happens... I'll keep you posted... I swear, I wish FORD would get their crap together... Unreal right? My dealership will not even do this unless I have broken bolt.

Unreal... Glad you are not jumping through hoops. I have to go to a dealership waste my time and then come back when the parts come in... I think I may just call the other dealerships to see what they say tomorrow. I may get lucky like you UGADawg96 and they will order my axles...

Yes, if you have other dealers in the area give them a shot. First one I called which is my usual go-to was not on board. Wanted to inspect the truck and said it’s hard to get the parts. Second dealer was super easy, said they were getting axles in a few days and scheduled me. Dropped off the truck a few days later and it was done in just a few hours.
