The air conditioner is the hidden mileage element in a PB. if it isn't enlisted to cool electronics and you aren't using it per cabin heating commands, you can get 2-3 MPG.
I still haven't found this to be credible, and it's not for lack of trying. Once the cabin cools down the seat heater goes on while also still keeping the cold air blowing, even in summer. Just did a round trip to montgomery and back and mainted 21.4mpg to and fro in 104 degree heat, some traffic, mountainous terrain on state highways and 2 lane roads. Average speed was about 65mph with most cruising being 67-75mph (per trip meter). I'm leveled on LT 34.1s w/ the tremor skid kit deleting the airdam. Even had 30m of AC idle time factored in, in montgomery and the to/fro efficiency was 21.4 (not reset). Lots of ups and downs of hills, the ICE was turning on and off more than I would have liked it to.

With less payload witch equals less towing and hauling capacity I would expect MPG to be much higher than the the standard 3.5. I've owned two with the 3.5 echo boost and the extra torque and horsepower the Powerboost gives makes no sense if you need it for max towing and hauling. But the same could be said for the platinum, king ranch, and limited with the pathetic payload. My buddy I get the X plan from is a retired Ford employee with a power boost. He will admit, he doesn't need a truck. Therefore he enjoys it. He knows I wouldn't. This is what confuses me. I have attempted to purchase a PB twice and both times told it wasn't for me. On here it's the ultimate truck. It has limits. I own a generator. I want more MPG and dependability. Service records at 2 dealerships in Metro Detroit show the 3.5 eco. 2.7, and 5.0 being the most reliable. Not even close. Salesman took me to the service manager when I asked. Like he said they have to give you the longer warranty....You will use it. The PB is either problem free or a disaster. I could have gotten another 2k off for going With a PB. Throwing tools in it would of maxed out payload. Like EV they need to work on the technology. I get excited about a PB super duty until I realize we will be a guinea pig for years. I think we're getting away from what a truck was built for not all the BS that's on it that causes all these problems. I gave up 11 month old Lariat and now a 24 XLT that's a POS. I couldn't imagine worrying about the technology in a PB. My point is these trucks have become extremely expensive, and currently unreliable. so don't buy them over the gimmicks. Purchase them for what you need. I said what I said.

How do I know? Try to get your truck in for service in Metro Detroit. It's a disaster. I am now on dealership number two. My 1st dealership has a spot in the back for problem vehicles. Most are F150's... Crazy
Agree completely on the payload.

In my use case, my 2023 Limited PB has payload capacity of 1318 lbs and was maxed out on payload with, get this, 16 bags of mulch at 40lbs per bag for a previous trip to Home Depot.

The total payload was me (205 lbs), my wife (145 lbs), full tank of gas (30x6=90 lbs), two German Shepherds (2x 95=190), and 16 bags of mulch (16x40=640)... total 1270 lbs. Doing the math leaves 48 lbs which is negated by the spray in bed liner and the tonneau cover I added.

So essentially, if I want to pick up more than a half empty bed of mulch, I need to leave behind a combination of dogs and/or wife. ? ? ?

2021 Powerboost.
Work truck.
3 years old.
Never seen the dealership for any issues.

Admittedly, not all dolled up by KingRanch standards, but it's still ultra modern compared to an F150 only a few years older.

I get that the forums can create fear and angst. But these trucks aren't brittle. And there's fellas here with more than 100,000 miles on their Powerboost and haven't experienced a single serious issue.

Yes my truck has a payload limit of #1624 and #11,200 tow rating. It’s a half ton pickup.

By definition: “A half-ton pickup truck is a light-duty truck that can carry at least half a ton of cargo and passengers, or 1,000 pounds.”

The PB is ideal for pulling and powering the 26’ Intech Willow Rover I’m shopping for.

In regards to performance, if you want to be quicker than my XLT with an EB make sure you have 3.75 gears and keep it as light as possible.

I have nothing against the Powerboost, except for the hit on payload on the upper trim levels due to the additional battery and having to include the mandatory big ass, heavy (Ford) sun roof, plus mpg hit compared to a 3.5 EB.

In order to get the options I desire, it frequently means I need to order the upper levels and have to balance payload vs desire.

Turns out I also have to balance out my desire for a tailgate step vs having the bed utility package with PAT. FFS Ford, let the buyer decide which tailgate they want, independent of the f...ing tailgate. I want the tailgate with tailgate step with LED bed lighting and bed mounting provisions. But NO, I have to choose between PAT tailgate with included bed utility package on the KR, or tailgate step (to assist my 60 yr old ass into the bed) and no, NO, led lighting or bed mounting provisions. WTFF! (aviation reference... lol)

Payload doesn't count when loading mulch. ?

No squatting and inches from bump stops. I could feel it, but wasn't concerned about being unsafe or hurting the truck during the 20 min drive.

I loaded half that and the truck "told me" via the on board scales I was
"unsafely" over loaded. ???.

However, on the Limited, there is so much additional body mounted "payload" that it reduces the actual payload by a wee bit (or more.) Sure wish I had researched that tidbit before spending a shit ton on my 2023. Oh well, lesson learned...

The onboard scales feature is garbage. Use Cat scales if towing, otherwise fill the bed for occasional yard work thangs and don't worry.

Getting rid of the huge "1.5" number on the tachometer was a plus for me. I prefer the cleaner look of the old school dial. Besides its super cool when you watch the tach drop to zero as you enter electric mode.
I like this old school gauge as well. The digital wouldn’t have bothered me, but I would see it as being cluttered and unneeded.

If I've learned nothing else from these decades of listening to country music, it's that if you leave your wife with your dog while driving off in your pickup, it's going to rain when you get back to prison . . .
