I have a new Lariat powerboost 4x4 FX4 regular tow package and totally loaded with options (no max tow) and I towed our 22' Bennington triple pontoon boat with a Yamaha 150 outboard on tandem surge brake trailer (5500+ lbs ?) and it did just fine. The rear of truck lowered (squatted) to just above truck level with boat connected and plenty of power even climbing hilly areas. I am not a fan of towing mirrors so a little struggle with standard mirrors pulling an 8.5' wide boat. May need to get some add on towing mirrors If we pull boat a long distance. My other trailers (tilt 20'car, 6x14 36" walls) are fine with regular mirrors. Just pulled the 6x14 tandem utility trailer with 2500# load of old trex decking to dump (5000lbs gross) and it did just fine with no special WD hitch. Minimum squat. Hardly knew it was there. Electric brakes weren't working and it still was easy tow.
