Starting earlier this week there is a pretty big jerk whenever the ICE engages. Its really harsh when accelerating from a stop, But even when driving in cruise at 35MPH, still get a pretty big jerk when I normally couldn't even tell.

This happened last month for not even a day.

Any ideas on what to check?

If you have any pending PCM updates, I'd recommend getting them applied. The only time I get a surge is on first start up as it typically is shifting as the engine starts. PCM update have improved the overall smoothness of operation though.

Private message @rugedraw and give him your VIN number and he can tell you where you are at on your updates.
We all need to buy him pizza and beer for all of the non-stop help he gives us.
Good guy...

I sometimes get a lurch or lunge, usually from a stop. Like the engine and battery motor aren't quite matched in speed when they engage.

PCM updates... will these all eventually be OTA or are some required to be done manually by dealership?

FWIW ever since that last update about a week ago my transmission and general jerkiness (if any) is way worse than in was prior to that update. My transmission was really smooth 99% of the time pre-update and now there are noticeable jerks especially on downshifts.

I agree. Harsh upshifts and downshifts, occasional feeling of loss of power, and the jerkiness from full stops have gotten worse as of late. I find myself having to apologize or explain to my passengers for the behavior of the truck.

Exactly!

Anybody know if resetting the shifting tables would have any effect on this?

@Ford Motor Company hello, latest PCM update causing issues in some PB trucks. Given the rapid deployment of 2 PCM updates 2 months apart including w/ SOBDMC as part of the package, your engineering team needs to be on this.

SOBDMC controls they hybrid portion of the trans for those wondering what that module is.

I've asked the dealer to look at hard shifts since the day I got my truck, but for the last 40k, transition to ICE has been very harsh in general. It's also super-inconsistent, so I can't even get used to it and compensate by muscle memory. I constantly feel like I'm trashing the truck by hammering the drive train so hard.

I wonder if the PCM update is fine, but requires a KAM reset (basically unplug the battery for 15 mins)?

I know when tuning these newer trucks, they require and extended battery disconnect to work properly.

I did this last weekend. Disconnected both batteries for a few hours. Didn’t make any noticeable difference for me.

Does anyone know if the shift tables includes the ice to EV handoff? Could resetting the tables help this jerking??

I reset the shift tables last night. My ride in this morning was the best its been in a good 4 - 6 weeks. I know its only one trip, but was awesome. I also feel like Ford updated the EV switchover / shifting strategy. The way the truck starts from stop and switches over is awesome. We will see what happens.
