Not sure how to better describe it, but recently I've noticed this bird-like cheep sound every time the ICE shuts down and it goes into all electric mode. It's a short sound and I think it's coming from more over by the passenger side, but positioning a sound can be deceiving in the cab.

Have you ever experienced this noise? Is it normal or something to worry about?

From your description, it sounds like you have the same sound many others have been experiencing. If you watch your turbos, the wastegate actuator arm tends to squeak when it moves and can be heard easily when going from ICE to electric. Many have taken their trucks in to the dealers to be told it’s normal and some will throw a little grease on it just to have that noise return shortly. @Broomsky attempted a disassembly and greased the contact points but the noise returned.

Good to know thanks!

It seems to be more prominent when it’s a bit colder outside. I’ll keep an eye on it and mention it to my dealer when I head in for an oil change next month.

Yeah it’s a bummer and sounds like squeaky brakes. I actually went and drove one at a dealership on Monday and took it to a parking lot and tried everything I could to get the noise to happen and it was as quiet as could be and the one I test drove had 28k miles and was a 2022. For now, I just keep the windows up and music on. When I put the windows down I just make sure the air is running or music on low and it drowns it out lol if you take it to the dealer, you will be met with “normal operating characteristic” which I still stand by, if high temp grease eliminates the sound even for a few weeks, there should be a way to permanently eliminate it.

I took the truck in for an oil change a couple of weeks ago. They showed me the Ford info on the noise and there was a list of "acceptable noises" from the turbos, so they said there wasn't anything to be done since it was "normal". However, magically, the noise disappeared after the service and hasn't returned in a few weeks. Go figure. I assume they threw some grease somewhere.

My noise has been gone since like 3 days after I replied last. I spray some high temp grease I got on Amazon every 2-3k miles for good measure and the sound has not returned.

My neighbor down the street just got a 2024 PB like a month ago and while I was with my kid at the bus stop one morning he came down the hill and as he came to a stop I heard the squeak lol. At least it makes me feel better it’s not just me nor the 21-23’s lol

For me it was the heat exchanger valve. First popped up when I was letting her run during a hand wash to hear the radio and she startled the crap out of me Chirping like a bird when shutting off.

It was less apparent and less consistent with the truck warmed up and in different weather conditions. It happened on and off for several months until it threw a code briefly and the dealer had to Acknowledge and fix.

I actually took it in after the truck had a powertrain malfunction code and also for the noise. The tech rode with me and we could not make the noise happen, but then they held it and read the code and it told them heat exchanger, which turned out to fix the noise.

I wish someone would keep one to take apart, can't find them doing that anywhere. Seems like something in that mechanism doesn't stay slick enough or lubricated well enough on a lot of trucks and starts to seize up over time. My noise started just over one year in.

That just made me have the lightbulb moment! I had my exchanger valve throw a code and get replaced, at the same time that I got my last service...the service with which the noise disappeared. So that totally tracks that it wasn't the Turbo actuator arm but rather the heat exchanger.

Thanks for that!
