  1. Powerboost Hybrid Battery Failure

Hi, sorry, just seeing this. I found a dealer that was willing to deal with it and replaced the battery. Still not a great experience, as it took 3 months of my truck sitting on the dealer lot. It's been mostly trouble free since then, though I'm now dealing with a bunch of tech glitch issues...
  2. Replacing the 12v battery

FYI, new hybrid battery solved almost all the trucks issues. However...it was in the shop for 3 months, unclear whether the dealer was fighting for warranty coverage or the part was backordered, as they'd say both when I called for updates. The truck sat on the lot for so long that they also...
  3. The future looks bleak for us.

Did you ever try the flipper on the keyfob? I didn't think they worked like that. I assumed the truck was constantly putting out a short range signal, and the fob received it when in range, then responded with a code that ID'S it to the truck. Then they recoded to each other for the next...
  4. Replacing the 12v battery

2 days would be great, but I was supposed to head out of town tomorrow, and I'm fairly confident it won't be ready. So even if they wrapped it up by Saturday, I'm down until Tuesday when I'm back in town. But he did say 7-10 days. Since full breakdown last Sunday, that'll be 2 weeks of lost use...
  5. Replacing the 12v battery

They're replacing my hybrid battery... 7-10 biz days to ship the battery, truck has to be down the duration.
  6. The future looks bleak for us.

Yeah, that was pretty much my point...the tactical version of something that can perform precision surgery is bringing us back to carpet-bombing style warfare... Lots of experts over the spectrum say the tech won't be ready for kill discernment for a long time, probably never being able to...
  7. The future looks bleak for us.

I wish I could remember specifics, but there was some point where I remember thinking, "They know it would be effectively impossible to disagree with this and they can demand anything they want. What am I going to do, return the truck?" It is possible there's no EULA for the software that runs...
  8. The future looks bleak for us.

Yeah, I don't even want to talk about stuff the gov or defense contractors are coming up with. Besides "AI" being a buzzword to pump stock, the way companies push garbage software updates, I can guarantee malfunctioning "perfectly safe" combat robots will be regularly killing civilians...
  9. Replacing the 12v battery

No idea...just know that he has "DIY" in his YouTube handle, and he comes up a lot when I'm trying to google issues with my truck.
  10. Replacing the 12v battery

I've seen that around the forum and on the YouTube channel for the DIY guy with the PB. I'm a weirdo and cant' stand an app for everything, so I haven't really wanted it. But...I can set up a voltage sensor and run that back to the Pi, and log the data through that. Some day... :cwl:
  11. Going for The Works.

My PB is my first "new" vehicle, and so I've been taking it to dealers for all service while in warranty, and now since out of warranty, take it to dealers for anything I can't do myself or might debatably impact the hybrid system. My thinking was that they treat consumers like soccer mom's, so...
  12. The future looks bleak for us.

I was thinking about this a few days ago... I only have a vague idea of "right to repair", but it's going to be difficult as hell to work on your own vehicle if the manufacturer will not release the source code...and you don't have hours upon hours to comb through it, even if you know how to...
  13. Replacing the 12v battery

Do you need specific hardware for that data logging? I have a bluetooth OBDII sensor hung off the truck all the time now, and use TorqueLite to pull codes and look at rudimentary info, but it can't give me that detail. I also have a raspberry Pi wired into the truck with an ignition on/off...
  14. Replacing the 12v battery

Yeah, I'm guessing Ford provides some kind of algorithmic/software based testing with a load bank that produces false pass, or the diag procedure applies better to standard truck parasitic loading than a hybrid's parasitic loading. The story across this forum seems to be that dealer says the...
  15. Replacing the 12v battery

I did specifically ask the service writer if that was Ford's diag procedure for P0B24, and he said it was. Not what you provided, but the "reset the light and see if it comes back on a drive cycle" procedure. The truck started tonight, but had a ton of faults on the cluster, so I drove it...
  16. Replacing the 12v battery

Yeah, I know unrelated to 12v, but I was hoping the old 12v was a source of false faults. I've been getting p0b24 for 40k miles now. I've set up with a new dealer now, though, who says they address appropriately.
  17. Replacing the 12v battery

Well. Happy memorial day. I've said a lot lately, "this truck has constant faults and things that don't work, but it hasn't left me stranded yet." But today it finally has! I left the truck running and ran in to Harbor Freight quick, as I'm in the middle of installing hvac at my house, and on...
  18. Replacing the 12v battery

I hate the cloud, I'd kill that swizzle in a heartbeat if I could. My radio was great until an update, now it's a random noise box. I found out today (from this forum) that the constantly changing shift habits are probably relates to updates. Effing software companies conditioned humanity to...
  19. Replacing the 12v battery

I'm hoping for better rundown protection, rather than instantaneous power delivery, in the hope that it will be gentler on the battery over long term. So I'm really chasing higher amp-hours over CCA. The past two weeks, I've been deferring long distance jobs for work because I got it back from...
  20. Replacing the 12v battery

Yeah, found out the hard way... The tray side-mounted electronics (overcurrent protection?) come out easily enough, but don't go back in with an H8 seated... It would work with just millimeters more, or a stable way to reposition that module.
