Well, it does suck that you’ve had issues. But throwing away a truck because of a stereo issue is just common in my opinion asinine. However, it’s your decision. It’s your choice. Personally the way the world was in 2021. There’s no way in hell I would’ve bought a new truck during the Covid years, but that’s just me.

I hope you find happiness and whatever you decide to buy next, I would tell you this I were you I would stay as far away as possible from Toyota

I’ve owned a lot of different brands. They all have issues of some sort. Even my 20 Lexus GX460 had some and that’s probably one of the most reliable vehicles out there.

You bought a used 21 F150 and all you have is a stereo issue? No burning oil, no trans issues or anything else? Dude, you are lucky!

FORD definitely is having QA issues
Dodge is the same and the new "Hurricane" engine is a gamble for now
Chevy has been having QA issues for years now on the trucks/
Toyota? Engines are having issues and premature rust

Pick a manufacturer and you'll have a possibility of issues-I'll take a crappy stereo issue any day over power train or other more serious issues. Understand your frustration, but take a moment, calm down and decide, where do I go now?

Every manufacturer is having these problems and it’s hard to find one where they aren’t. Pretty much the only way around it is by buying either 20-30 year old trucks and completely refurbishing them, or only buying the base models of new cars/trucks.

The point of diminishing returns on technology pretty much started after 2006 and it’s been getting worse as EPA milestones continue to become more stringent and integrated infotainment systems become more and more foisted on us by marketing. The only way to make manufacturers build the trucks that are more reliable is to stop buying all the ridiculous overpriced stuff that they are pushing.

If buyers stopped buying the higher trims they would be forced into making more of the cheaper simpler models that they have been rationing out that only exist to bait and switch buyers. Look at what happened with the base Bronco and Mavericks.
I’m with you on this. I had a salvage 2014 xlt and it was a tank. Never had a single issue with it and had it 10 years. If I could get my money back I would go get that truck back in a heart beat even though it had 140k on it. I like my chances with that one better than this one. But hey this is on me I went against my better judgment along with other friends telling me to wait or buy older. Those of you that have no problems with yours I continue to hope that happens for you Bc this has been a tough pill to swallow.

I’ve had/still have transmission issues, both rear axle bolts sheared(luckily bolts covered under recall but took 4 trips to the dealer and me finally getting allowed to go back there and hold their hand and telling them to take the Axle bolt off and sure enough it was broke off halfway through. My transmission still is not 100% correct but hey they say it’s normal. I love hearing a grinding noise every so often when I’m slowing down. Jumps down a gear and is a distinct jolt every so often. They can’t recreate it “apparently”. I shouldn’t be at the dealer to begin with esp with a truck that has 40k on it with all this going on.

I think that the apex of reliability in a vehicle hit somewhere in between 2000-2010. The mechanical aspect was engineered down to a science after 100 years; but we had only included fairly minor computer based functions. In the 2010s we see a steady slope down in longevity and quality that hit a black diamond like drop around 2020.

To be fair, my worst vehicles with problems were high end German ones. Pick your brand. High dollar plastic POSs.
My vehicle choices are thusly,-Trucks-Fords only. Every time I have tried a different brand it bit me. Even all my friends are now in Fords. Between us, there is not a truck brand that hasn't been tried and tried again. We are now 100% Fords. Gas or Diesel.
Cars-Ford or any Japanese brand. These just seem to be the most reliable. I don't squabble about a rattle here or there and also understand software issues plague them all. Its about A to B for me. Will it get me there reliably? Ford and Japanese, yes. The others, no.
Chrysler-fiat has now become synonymous with drivetrain issues. The Gladiator is literally the worst vehicle for reliability in the country with Tesla right on hits heels. The rest of Chryslers products make the list. The only thing good about any Chrysler is what they don't make, the Cummins engine that Ford owned a good chunk in until 2015 when the 6.7 proved a better engine.
Chevy is just unreliable engines across the board except for their EB copies. The Alison is a good trans if you don't tune. But, again, Chevy doesn't own that one either. At least Ford owns everything they make, minus individual parts.
Toyota trucks were great until Toyota tried to copy Fords EB. Now their engines commit suicide on a daily basis. Chevys 5.3 was once one of the most reliable engines every made. Then 2007 and AFM came along and they are a line replaceable item @100k miles. Fords first 3.5 EB ate Turbos like a dope head eats snacks. One after the other. Ford Fixed that issue. Today the 3.5 is a damn fine engine IF you understand that Turbos do and will wear out and need to be replaced for a good chunk of change. Doesn't matter who makes them, they wear out.

The next question is how much research you did on that truck. Did you pull a carfax? Did you ask ford for a service history? I have walked away from vehicles after these were pulled. The most recent was a 2022 Lincoln Continental. Highly electronic car like your Truck. It had multiple service issues for "electronic repair". I walked away immediately.

To be fair, buying a low mileage truck a year or two old gives the buyer the remainder of the factory warranty along with a generous savings. The buyer could also still buy an ESP if so inclined.
Not with tweeters that bad!!

Course my XLT stereo doesn’t have fancy speakers so I sing to myself as I rocket past those dog Hemis.

perhaps add, "non-covid" to the description . . .

2021 and 2022 models in general will go down in history in infamy.
Every year has its gremlins. My ‘22 has been pretty darn blemish free aside from two issues: the rear axle TSB for Max Tow trucks, and a faulty seal on the panoroof. The dealer replaced the seal so all is good there. I've not had the rear axle failure but am in queue for replacement when it starts up.

They are too busy investing time and effort into technology to track you/vehicle. When chips and more software are involved it equals total control over you and less energy on an engine that the gov is slowly trying to get rid of with astronomical amounts of money grants. Before long they will have it programmed to start to fall apart after warranty expires magically so either you spend Money to fix it or come get a new one. Oh wait it’s already happening. They are just mirroring the iPhone model

You have a 5 year / 60k powertrain warranty.

The lemon law applies.

As far as the radio, you are outside of the 3/36 warranty. There are acknowledgeable people on the various forums that can help you troubleshoot your issue and hopefully get the radio back working as it should.

I too have a ‘21 F150 that I have had multiple problems with. it turned out that getting them resolved was mostly a DEALERSHIP problem. I finally found a different dealership in my area that not only fixed all the remaining issues but also treated me with respect and appreciation. I am now, again, a happy Ford owner.

For the lemon law, it depends on the state. In Maryland the limit is 2 years/18k miles. This truck would not qualify. For some states it was to be the original purchaser, as new.

I’ve tried about 20 different things suggested. I’m over it at this poin

I’m glad it worked out for you. I mean I guess I get why dealerships are dragging their feet bc they are tired of fixing these crap vehicles that should not be happening this early in the game. They themselves know ford put cheap components in the vehicle
