I bought my truck used. I do a lot of outdoorsy stuff and I bought a 2021 F150 Lariat it's hybrid powerboost. When I got it it showed >300w and i went out once and that's depleted. How do I recharge it? Please be kind I'm an old classic truck girl and this technology thing is a bit over my head. Parts are getting harder to come by for those and I'm 38 and only getting older so the comforts are getting nice as I'm aging.

I'm no expert on PowerBoost's, but I believe the Pro Power (hybrid) battery gets recharged via the trucks charging system when it is running/driven.

When the truck is in engine on/run, you can increase the amount of output by pushing the generator button. Above the center screen, the leftmost button should look like a 'plug' and a + sign. That's generator mode, pushing that will allow full output power.

The engine will automatically start to charge the Pro Power Onboard if you are parked. However, you can't turn the ignition off.

Start PPO and then plug in your items. Leave the ignition on and the engine will cycle on and off as needed to recharge the PPO 1.5Kw battery.

If you have a powerboost and everything is working as it should, I'm not sure what depletion you're talking about.

The truck must be running, to power the pro power on board. Depending on the load you're asking it to power, the gas engine will cycle on and off, as it recharges the high voltage battery and then uses that battery to power the PPOB and thus, your appliances.

The gauges you see on the infotainment system don't show the charge level of the pro-power; they show how much is currently being drawn from the system. So, if you don't have anything plugged in, I expect to see less than 300 watts. You'll see more draw if you plug in something like a heat gun.

The system doesn't have a "charge" capability. It's on when the key is in "run" or it's defective

I'm guessing the display you are seeing is telling you your consumption from the 120/240 outlets is less that 300 (probably zero if nothing is plugged in) That screen will show higher usage if you have the system on and are using more watts (plug a heater in, turn it on, and see what it says)

There could be some confusion on what you're seeing on the display. If you're in generator mode and seeing "300W," that's the power draw on the PPoB system, it's not a state of charge for the hybrid battery. If your 300W load drops to zero, you may have a ground fault somewhere that is making the PPoB system think it's shorted out, and it's cutting the power supply.

If your truck can power stuff in generator mode with the engine off, and/or drive in electric only mode, your hybrid system is working.

Just put it in generator mode, turn off the lights, and lock it up!

The gauge you see on the Sync screen is the amount of power being drawn from the PPOB system at any given moment - it isn’t some sort of gas gauge telling you how many watts are available in the tank (battery).

Even at rest with nothing plugged in, you’ll still see a little bit of power being drawn, which is the >300w indication you saw.

Try an experiment: press the Generator button above the Sync4 screen (puts the truck into so-called generator mode) then try plugging some stuff into the outlets (hairdryer, toaster, whatever) and you’ll see the gauge perk right up to a much larger number as more power is being drawn from the system (a toaster draws on the order of 1000 watts, give or take).

One wrinkle that may be confusing: there are two gauges labeled A and B. That’s because the output of the generator is split into two legs - some of the 110v outlets are powered by leg A, and some are powered by leg B. So the gauges are showing how much power is being drawn from each leg of the generator at any given moment. The reason they do this is because both legs are combined to power the 220v outlet. (FWIW, your house does the same thing, it’s just you can’t see it.). You probably won’t be using the 220v outlet.
