Anyone who gets the 2kW, I'd find a good 3kW pure sine wave inverter to replace it with so you're never disappointed. The 2kW units provides a 2nd alternator at 24v/130a. Doesn't look like it can be out-right replaced as there's a LIN bus where the inverter talks to the 24v alternator. Would take some tinkering to see if it's possible to remove entirely.

Would an optical coupler allow serial communication pass through while maintaining proper impedance matching for the parallel 3kW inverter?

Not sure what the LIN bus is communicating -- looks like it's a likely a voltage request
