Why did you replace your battery so soon? Were you having the Standby-mode deal where you couldn't connect to your app? I'm trying to figure that one out now. What H8 battery did you get?
Sorry- just saw your question... I run a snowplow and strobes, so in the interest of having enough constant power on demand, I always put in a larger battery. NO issues with the standby mode, I've had my truck off for 2-3 weeks and no issues starting up even in winter. I just installed the EverStart H8 seen in the thread. I had an Optima in my 2016, but didn't want to spend $400 this time lol

Will the H8 Everstart fit a 2024 2.7 Ecoboost F-150 without any modifications except for a new heat blanket and a BMS reset? Are there any special procedures when removing/replacing the battery with regards to the alarm or harming the computer? (My motorcycle has a proper sequence). I am sick and tired of not being able to contact the truck with the Fordpass app after the truck sits for 2 weeks, especially using the remote start in the winter.
It'll fit without issue, no special procedure beyond resetting the BMS.

I bought a used 21, apparently the original owner had it at the dealer less than 2 years ago and got a new H6 installed. Aside from SOC messages and some one time DTC's, Im thinking that that battery is really the cause of numerous false DTC's?

So I think a new H8 is in store for me. Question is, what purpose does the blanket play, since even when the original owner got the new replacement battery, there is no existing blanket.

Unless you have added some more electrical drains, such as high power light bars or a winch, you really don't need an H-8 battery. In my observation the standard H-7 size non-Ford battery replacing the OEM battery will work just fine. I did so at four months after some odd readings. It has now gone thru three Wyoming winters (down to -20ºF frequently) and recently handled a 3 week no run period without any issues. This was a NAPA off the shelf catalog specified battery, an H-7 size.

Thanks. Battery came Saturday and the blanket arrives today.

Maybe I'm just getting old, but I always use to run the Optima yellow top H7 in my trucks. Never had an issue. Other than price, are these H8 batteries really that much better?

The only reason I went with H8 over H7 is because they're the same price at my costco and I figured why not ?

Should I be looking into a battery blanket for the new H7 Battery I will be getting for my Plat PB once I take delivery later this month?

Is there a recommended blanket if so?

Maybe not "much" better but FWIW compared to the Yellowtop DH7 the Everstart H8 has slightly higher Ah, CCA, and RC ratings along with longer free replacement warranty.

And yes, the price is much lower (about 1/2).

Go with what you like, no worries!

Just did the H8 replacement and the truck seems better all around. Placebo, probably?

NAPA AGM is what I ended up going with.

I do need to do the reset though. I’ll dig out the forscan and get that done.
