The fob is locked in the glove box.
But you can't can get in without setting the alarm. If I press the engine off and lock the doors it arms. If I reach into it while window is open the motion sensor activate. If I reach in and press the unlock button it alarms.
I use it occasionally but its not deal breaker type thing for me.I wonder what the use rate for the keypad is for F-150 owners outside of this thread? It's likely a low percentage for Ford to decide to make it no longer standard. I don't believe I've ever seen one being used. Gonna have to start using mine to see what I'm missing out on...
With the fob in the truck, it can be cloned.Hiding a 200.00 keyfob in the bumper when my guys arrive at a job site while everyone is looking?
Why not just lock it in the glove box and use the keypad to both lock and unlock the door?
Leave truck, press two buttons to lock. Open truck with code.
Main thing is I'm not running around trying to get the keys back. Even with the key FOB in the truck it can't be stolen. The alarm and interior protection sense when truck is broken into or movement inside when the truck is locked with the keypad. Alarm goes off and ignition is disabled.
Word……Reading these posts. It's amazing to read some people thinking that options are not necessary.
Just buy a xlt and be happy. "My first car didn't have back seats" or i"t didn't have a radio"
Then there are people here that are missing the point. Something that was standard now costs 225.00. And it's subpar, cheep looking and prone to dead batteries.
Ford is trying to figure out what standard options to delete, see how much push back there is and put it back for a high fee. I feel privileged to have a volume button on my steering wheel.
What else is Ford going to delete and charge to put it back? Power lift tail gate? Interior ambient lighting? O wait they did that already. How about remote start or intermittent wipers?
It's not just Ford. Dodge is so cheep that they put a knob to change gears. I guess having a consol shifter was too expensive. Even if it was fake.
I woukd have a hard time resting my hand on that dash know. I woukd have to rest it on the steering wheel.
It was all the little Easter eggs that goes into Ford trucks that drew me to their brand. With Ford taking them away they become less attractive.
I hate that they took away the folding tail gate step. In 5'6" with arthritis. And if I had the tailgate down in the new one i wouldn't be able to get up into the bed.
All brand new and factory fresh? That would be wonderful. Certainly won't need any extended warranty. I'm in!!!Ladies and Gentlemen, we proudly present the 2028 F150.

Well, the color thing pretty much has happened. 80% of all cars sold are black, grey or white. And no one makes a peep about it.Ladies and Gentlemen, we proudly present the 2028 F150.

Recommendation: Switch to decaf. But it's a pretty hefty price increase on a 80k truck when it's been standard for as long as I remember. And before anyone says that Ford can charge what they want. I'm sure you will be ticked off when you have to start paying extra for power steering, AC, a freaking glove box, windows. Remember the model A? No windows.
Ford's attitude towards nick picky options and turning comfort features into a cash grab is petty.
Christ what does the keypad cost ford. 12.00?
If they want to save 12.00 remove AM radio,
It's just the let's cheepen up our trucks thing and see what people bitch about the most and start charging to put it back.
I can't wait until ford starts charging subscription just to drive the dam thing. The whole truck is going to be alacart. You want seats? 2600.00
You want 6 way seats, another 200.00. Or you can pay a monthly fee.
Or the best one yet. You want a battery that doesn't go to sleep? Go buy one otherwise be happy with the cheep one we give you.
I bought one of ford's most expensive trucks because it had outstanding comfort features.
Smart headlights, couture seats, extendable steps, everything that distinguished it as a Platinum with the highest options. And they are priced that way. But now they are taking the keypad out if the package and setting it as a charged second option.
How often have you had to change the battery in yours? And it's subpar, cheep looking and prone to dead batteries.
Except Clint would likely prefer that truck over a 2025.Ladies and Gentlemen, we proudly present the 2028 F150.
