For the most part I agree. The largest contributor to "crappy" gasoline, in a given market, is the age of the gasoline. Low volume stations or stations with leaky storage tanks can result in "crappy" gas.
I get my gas at Costco and I know it isn't old as the guy told me the truck comes 2 to 3 times a day. It is a very busy location.

Pipeline transport of liquid hydrocarbons is a mixing bowl. You put X amount of liquid conforming to Standard W into Point A and redeem that for X amount of liquid conforming to Standard W at Point B. You have no idea nor any control over who gets the stuff you put into Point A or whose stuff you get at point B.

RDS, XOM, Phillips et c have no idea who refined they gas that they're selling or who is selling the gas that they refined. The good news is: it does not matter. They add an additive package after the refined gas comes out of the pipe, but that's a lot less important than avoiding the most common co-additive with ethanol: water. I can't just blame ethanol: even diesel has a short shelf life now.

LOL, why is it I have a feeling clicking the link will try and suck some IQ points down the drain. We've covered this topic in other threads. Gasoline quality standards are mandated by both federal and state govts. There are 'base' grades, but there are no 'negative' grades. There are toptier brands as well as brands like shell whose additive package is above toptier. There are no brands that are a "waste of money".

oof, so I threw it in a sandbox and yeah, it's just as dumb as I was suspecting. Just one of those long-running clickbait nonsense sites along the lines of '15 things you should do' or '10 reasons your dog does' 'Women love it when you' '10 celebrity opinions on who you should vote for'
:ROFLMAO:
Yup, in my area Circle K sells Shell, a top-tier brand.

Liquids aren't segregated either, they go from pumping one right into pumping the next too.

TopTier is just a bullshit marketed additive package. Nothing more nothing less.
in this statement, nothing true . ..

Top Tier is an additional industry standard, but does it make itself any better than what is already required or is it a money maker for the folks pedaling it?
Given that the folks selling it (the gas companies) and the folks "pedaling" it (Cadillac & the German & Japanese car makers) are completely distinct from one another . . .

Correct if I’m wrong but don’t most brands of Premium fuel have more additives than regular anyway?
IN the not so distant past, that was one of the differences. AFAIK, regular gets all the cleaners and such in premium for all brands, with the only remaining difference being octane.

Just run a bottle of Redline Si-1 every oil change and call it a day. Correct if I’m wrong but don’t most brands of Premium fuel have more additives than regular anyway?
Chevron Techron is the only gas additive I use. Yes there are cleaning additives in gasoline, but I figure if that was good enough then all the additives on the shelves are snake oil.

With vehicles as expensive as they are, along with the inconvenience of having them repaired, I will easily pay a few more cents per gallon for Top Tier gas. Maybe it is a waste to some, but it is piece of mind for me.

As far as fuel injector cleaners go its all about the PEA content and Redline has the highest concentration, thats why I use it. The down side is that it ain’t cheap.
