Hello everyone, I'm hoping I can get some sort of assistance with an issue I'm running into with a replacement used PCM from a 2021 on my 2023 Tremor. I had Ford dealer reprogram the used PCM to the truck. No issues with truck after change except I'm seeing a VIN mismatch on Forscan as well as 2 different types of OBDII scanners to confirm. The PCM and OBDII modules show the old VIN from the used PCM while the other modules are showing the correct VIN to the truck. I called the dealer and the service tech said he did everything he had the ability to do. I'm not too sure that's the case but maybe someone has a suggestion to either ask the dealer to do a certain procedure or if I can just do it myself.

I greatly appreciate any assistance I can get. Thanks!

Welcome to the forum!

What happened? It's a 23 truck presumably still under the factory 3/36 B to B and 5/50 Powertrain warranty. They should have replaced the PCM with the same part number. How were they able to program it? The PCM part number is a mis match to the vehicles build code. There's no way a dealer could even program a 21 PCM into a 23 truck as FDRS would instantly see a part number mismatch. This will also break the OTA systems ability to install updates. Your best bet is to find another dealer and have the correct PCM installed.

Thank you and I'm loving the truck more than I expected.

I had the PCM changed for future tuning reasons. The 23 PCM is more difficult than a 21-22 for tuning purposes. The PCM that I was told to get was ML3A-12B684-KKA. From what I have read so far is that the eeprom needs to be updated? Or it's something that potentially takes a bit of time for the tech to complete and they don't want to do it?. The dealer is a fairly decent one and so far they have been very helpful except this issue I ran into.

Gotcha, what your trying to do goes far beyond my knowledge. I'm relatively certain the dealer did nothing more than plug in the PCM and it happened to work, why any dealer would agree to do this is beyond me, there taking a huge risk doing this and setting themselves up for big liability issues if something goes wrong. it's obviously a used PCM that had already been programed to the previous truck, thus the vin number still being embedded it. A dealer wouldn't have the software to ever make this work for you. If they did when they programed it for you with FDRS the vin would be correct, but due to the mismatch they couldn't reprogram it, so they let it go.

@aventus, The FORScan spreadsheet from livnitup that we all use doesn't list an address in the PCM for the VIN, neither does an asbuilt full backup of the PCM have a VIN in it. My advice would be to contact your prospective tuning company for help on this.

UGH! So frustrating. Can't log in, when I start up FDRS. Looks like an issue with the login servers. I hope they credit me an extra day (doubtful). Was working fine yesterday.

FDRS is always down on Sundays. Sometimes it is very brief in the morning only and other times it is uncertain for a good amount of the day. Sunday evening does not usually have any connection issues though.

Good to know. I've been regularly check the Network Diags, to see when it comes back online.

Long time since I've been here. I got my truck updated yesterday. The IPMA was very temperamental, but I got there. I see it's normal for PSCM to stick around after the latest updates. I had the turn signal option for BlueCruise before, do I need any other ForScan changes to enable the full 1.4 experience?

ACM is another module that does not clear the list after being updated.

It's a known issue that the ACM does not remove itself from the list after updating.

Stupid FDRS is apparently still down. Won't authenticate, so it keeps failing when I try to log in. I really wanted to get everything completed.

I also should probably replaced my battery for the larger one. Seems to lose its charge fairly quick. The Clore charger shows me at like 70 when it has sat overnight. Rather odd but then again, the factory battery is apparently too small for these trucks, from what I've read, so many have bought new H8 batteries.

70 is normal. Factory settings shoot for 80. It usually maxes out around 75-80 unless you're driving a long ways.

FDRS is working for me as we speak
