A 2 day subscription for FDRS. Don't try updating with ForScan. A 64GB USB stick formatted to ExFat. If you have a few, brand name, USB sticks because for some reason some don't work in the truck even though they formatted correctly. I always format the USB after every update that uses it. Most members are on the forum over the weekend, so don't be afraid to post any questions or problems. Screen shots of the problem is a bonus. There is a list of what order modules should be updated. I will try and find mine and PM it to you.

Do you know what updates your truck has in FDRS?

Good Luck
Would you be able to send that to me as well? Mongoose should be here tomorrow and I’ll be doing the updates this weekend. Also if someone would help me out with the necessary forscan changes on BC 1.4 it would be much appreciated

I have actually read this entire thread but it has taken years to get it done.

I also lost my lane centering steer assist after the IPMA update, is this something that will be resolved when my APIM update hopefully installs itself? Not sure what other troubleshooting will need to do if the USB A port is indeed dead. The Sync system does seem to index and pick up the drive through the adapted usb c so hopefully it will update soon but fingers crossed

I think those that lost their lane centering figured out they need to wear their seatbelt while driving after the IPMA update.

Possibly, you should have completed the APIM first before doing the IPMA update. The software needs to be at the same level.

Same. I read every single post of this and the Forscan thread before starting with either and have been subscribed to both and kept up ever since. So much great information here and even better than the information are the people. You very rarely see the go back and read it posts here, like almost every other Internet forum. just helpful responses.

If I recall, the preferred order is GATI: GWM, APIM, TCU, IPMA. But I’m going from memory. Someone please correct me if I’ve goofed up the acronym. FDRS does seem to mostly try to idiot proof it and not let you do something until it’s ok to do it, so that helps.

Exactly, if @booostin 's truck is as out of date as it appears to be, he will have multiple additional GWM, APIM, TCU, and IPMA updates to follow once he gets past being stuck on his current version. He's not to the point where the seat belt thing comes into play yet on his IPMA.

Yes I always wear my seatbelt when driving. So I’m guessing IPMA being on a newer version than the APIM is throwing it out of whack and causing me to lose lane centering until the APIM updates off the USB drive.

Questions, you are using the same usb drive that you use for other updates today?
The usb drive is plugged directly into either the usb A or C port on the dash.

Yes, we tried 3 different USB drives formatted the exact same, and nothing pops up while connected to the USB A port under the HVAC controls. Furthermore, we tried a standard USB cable to a phone and it did not provide any power to it. The area does have the ambient lighting around them too and when we tried the flash drives adapted through the USB C port next to it, the SYNC screen does immediately give that USB indexing complete screen but nothing happens, we only let it sit for 15-20 minutes max as I did not know it could take days, so I drove home with it still adapted through that port.

Ok that's good leave it in the usb c port that says "indexing" when you plug it in. Your truck was stuck on known bad software do to a bad ota sent to the trucks in late 2021 or early 2022. This was OTA 1.7.1 that stopped the process. It will install eventually it could take a day it could take up to 4 weeks. Just keep driving the truck as normal. And suddenly one day you'll see the screen pop up that says "update successfully installed" when this happens you're out of the woods. And you can continue with your friend updating the truck with FDRS normally. You will have many more updates pop up after this first one completes. Good luck!
