ECU module programming guide using FDRS

I decided to join in the fun with FDRS as I purchased a mongoose cable over Black Friday. Ive read through as much of this thread as I can and think the first step is to ask rugedraw to please look up my vin and tell me what I’m in for? Then when mongoose comes and I register for license to start going to town and ask questions as I get stuck? My last OTA was in May and would really like to get the updates for bluecruise as I also purchased a comma3x which is apps better with the newer updates. Anyway, @rugedraw would you mind taking a look at my vin?

I am doing my second around of FDRS updates this weekend - I know I can no longer update BCM, but any other modules that should be avoided (or may cause grief)? Last update was about 1 year ago (and I have had very few OTAs since then)... Job 1 2021 Powerboost Lariat 501A

There is a new IPMA update released for 2021 only F150's. Some owners of PowerBoost trucks in particular have reported some driver assist issues after updating to this. Another owner just reported more problems today:

I don't know how much of a red flag this. What I do know if that @m_bt54 is having issues with his truck that we have not been able to resolve yet. Still looking into this new case that just popped up.

Thanks for the warning Rugedraw - my truck does not have adaptive cruise, 360 cameras, or bluecruise - are all the problems related to lane depature/bluecruise?

No, it seems to be lane centering, but it is throwing hard codes and warnings on the dash on the few affected trucks. Don't know enough yet to know if it's BC only trucks affected.

Apparently PSCM updates are chained to IPMA updates, so you should not update PSCM until IPMA is safe to update.

I did update PSCM but did not do the 2nd chained IPMA update - now the PSCM is grey (unresponsive) even when a network scan is done with the engine running. No DTC or CEL, and everything seems fine though.

My FDRS session went well - a bit quirky and needed to rerun a couple, but all up to date except for BCM (dealer only), IPMA (should not updated as advised) and PSCM. An ACM keeps showing up too but I think that is a known issue. PSCM is gone now - did half of the chained update?

Shit......I didn't mention that they were chained. Any codes or faults on the dash?

The ACM not coming off the list is normal....ignore that. The BCM you won't be able to do without an NFTSA password.

You cannot make config changes to the modules with FDRS.....you can only do that with FORScan.

I am not sure what negatives are associated with updating just the PSCM and not the IPMA. I would try taking it on a road test and test lane centering and all that stuff, test Bluecruise if you have it, and ensure everything works.

Hi, I just received new update for IPMA( RJ6T-14H102-BBC) and PSCM.

Both went well the IPMA took almost 3 hours ( I used Mongoose-plus ) so you must have a good state of charge and a battery charger.

I don't have Blue cruise so no clear changes for me.
