20301 is corrupted software. It won’t work immediately. Make another USB and just leave it in the truck until it kicks off. Might take hours. Might take months. Do a search for @rugedraw ‘s helpful post on this particular software version and what to do about it.

Yeah. Do as much as you can. Then, after you wrap up everything else, leave the USB you made to update the APIM in the USB port and go about your business until one day it just decides to kick off.

Yea, correct...just leave it in there. It can take a few weeks and then you'll need another license to finish the updates. I just went back to our messages about this and I had mentioned it.

As everyone has said it could be hours or weeks before it kicks off and installs. Leave the usb stick in all of the time. When you start the truck you will see in the upper left corner of the SYNC screen that it says "indexing" this let's you know that the truck "sees" the usb drive as available, but you'll have to wait for the eventual install to happen. Great patience is needed.

Alright, well I'm calling it a night, after spending the last 6ish hours doing updates. My license expires in 50 minutes. First night I was able to get a couple of smaller updates done, a PCM update, and one GWM that was available after all, even though when my VIN was ran here it didn't show as available. Once that was done it unlocked an APIM. So I spent this entire afternoon updating almost everything that I can. A ton of smaller modules, plus 2 additional GWM, 2 APIM, and 2 TCU. I have a BCM update available, but I always hear horror stories about BCM updates, and it wants me to input some sort of special credentials to do that update anyways, so I couldn't do it even if I wanted to. I also have an IPMA update, but again from reading hours of this thread it seems that one tends to have issues going through correctly, so I left it alone. The only other one left is the front ACM module, which I've updated, but it keeps showing up in the list of available updates. I ran it a second time and it just did a bunch of checks then said it was done, and it remained on the updates list. I was also able to update the GWM on my wife's 2021 Nautilus, which had WAAAAY fewer modules to update, and the other two that showed up kept failing, due to the module failing to respond (the wireless accessory module and one other I can't remember).

Overall I'm happy with the result. I'm now on Sync number 24127. I took the truck for a brief drive to see if I could notice a difference in how it downshifts with the PCM update, and it does appear to be slightly better, though I'll need to drive it more to really know. It definitely upshifts into 2nd gear at a way lower RPM, which I actually don't mind. I'm going to pop open FORScan right now, reset adaptive learning, and change battery charge percentage to 90%. Then I'll be done with this, probably forever with this truck. I think I'll just resell my Mongoose cable and try to recoup some of that investment, making the total cost to get the truck updated somewhere around $100, plus many hours of my time.

Thanks to everyone here for their input and sharing their experiences. Pretty cool we can do this stuff in our own garage, and really truly incredible that folks here are so understanding and willing to help, with fast responses to boot!

Edit: one thing I forgot to mention that was weird, was that I had an IPC update showing the first night, which I chose not to do that night since it said it would take over 3 hours. But upon booting up FDRS this afternoon, it no longer was showing IPC in the list. Not sure why that is.

Not sure. I've never seen this happen to people in the US; only when people in other countries use do they do this. Let us know what happens when you call.
