I think that was the intention, but who knows? This particular version was a problem for some people last year because after installation it was causing misdirected chimes to the cluster. And it wasn’t clear it actually fixed anything. Since mine rolled back to -BK last summer I’ve gotten IPC and ACM updates so maybe Ford decided to give -BN another shot.
I’m so glad I stumbled across this post as I’ve been trying to nail down what may have possibly been causing my misdirected chimes. I think when I created my post fall of last year I didn’t get too much traction, and I even started going down the rabbit hole of battery voltage issues even though I have ZERO other issues besides the randomness of those chimes coming from the instrument cluster. My ‘22 Platinum with the B&O Unleashed I got brand new in May 2023, and had no weird chimes till Sept 2023 when I got 23-PU0327-DSP-AMP which showed it was to fix the static noise issue. While I guess that fixed (or significantly minimized it enough that I couldn’t notice anymore) I swore that it also caused my random misdirected chimes. It’s not every time, but when it happens it drives me crazy.

All that said, I don’t currently have FDRS (never used) and I don’t have a legit Mongoose cable…I’ve done plenty FORScan work on this truck already but I am very curious to know if there might be a newer update for my truck. I’m asking out of slight ignorance but assume I’m going to need FDRS and a good quality cable like Mongoose to do this check (and update)? If there even is one for me. Just finding this thread post has me hopeful!

there is a vin lookup thread you can ask folks to check FDRS for you. They can tell you what updates are available. If I wasn’t in the middle of a 6+ hour IPC module update i would check.

Perfect! I’ll head over there and find someone to pass my VIN to. It’d be great to just know if I should pursue or not. Appreciate it

Noticed new TCU update tonight for ‘21 J1.

Doesn’t look to be a flash but rather just a module configuration. Did the update and it disappeared when completed in FDRS. No additional updates showed afterwards either.

Anyone have any info on this one?

So only trucks with an issue get it or they push it to all of us? I'm not aware of having any issues with my truck.

So you think they actually listened to you??
I have confirmed it was the issue I brought to their attention. I sent it to the executive team when I found it

When the OTA was being sent we confirmed it was a config in the field I found the issue and then I confirmed with someone at FOrd also

Now that they are sending out the fix I will say what the issue was. The issue was the country code was being erased in the TCU causing the TCU to lose comms. It would start with Traffic and weather not working.> then your fordpass.. then you would do a master reset to fix it and couldnt reactivate.

THere are Hundreds and hundreds probably 10s of thousands with the issue. It was one vin after another I would find with the issue. It was across the board Lincoln, Ford.. all models.

Im glad they actually did something about it because it was causing issues for a bunch of people.

With ford starting on 2024 models and how they are encrypting the data buss, what will that mean for being able to use code readers? We will not be able to see codes or use forscan?

OBD codes still have to be available, that interface cannot change. .

Too bad that tuning is not going to be possible. This reminds me of the fight farmers have. Kind of the right to repair. Encryption on machines we own. Wonder if future purchase contracts will say that Ford has the right to keep us from tampering with our bus.

So that's why my Fordpass would lose the ability to remote start/unlock from time to time. A master reset was the only fix to get it working! Glad they listened to you Jesse!
