No it’s not than I’m missing out on any as I update manually but it’s not seeing any change whatsoever in PTS on the status of OTAs. One would think that since the truck has moved past 1.7.1 that if a new OTA was pushed and I hadn’t updated manually yet it would have at least tried.

I still show 1.7.1 as failed in the scriptable widget and none of my dates for deployment, expiration etc have changed.

The update has been run at least 5 times and same problem every time. We make sure key fob is far away from vehicle and wait 20 min for complete shutdown before restarting.
I’d bet it’s a bad battery that’s got you in a restart loop. I had the exact same problem. Battery tested fine but I replaced it and immediately completed the APIM install.

We tried with a new battery, still no go. Perhaps we need to PMI the APIM?

2.8.2 went right though.

2.8.3 failed…..I supposed it’ll keep trying. But if not, FDRS I guess.

Wondering if my FORScan changes messed things up…
Mine just failed. I think it's FORScan changes because this update (2.8.3) has to do with cameras in motion. That is the only thing I've ever changed in FORScan. I'm gonna revert the changes I made and see if that makes it where it'll go through.

Gear Shift module and the TRM. The TRM software you're running is the BA version. The download is probably the BB updated one from the recall.

If you don't want to bother with a FDRS license I'd let the dealership do the TRM update since they'd have to clear the recall in the system anyway.

Well hopefully it won't be my problem much longer. I told my salesman I did the update but they'd have to clear the recall when I trade it in on the Lightning. There's also the one on the wipers. Again, the truck mostly sits and waits for the Lighting to arrive. I wash it once a week. It's on a battery tender.

I just an open thought:

There are several stories around of people taking their vehicle into the dealership and encountering the scenario were they’re told updates failed by the dealership staff without being around to assess why first hand.

Because some of these updates take several hours to complete, I’m thinking that maybe technicians are letting some updates download to vehicles overnight so their shop equipment isn’t getting tied up during work hours and their laptops are going into a hibernation or low power state which is then interrupting key processes when no one is around to pay attention.

I can’t help but think that for some
of the people here, default energy saving settings in Windows on the computers at the dealership could be part of the problem.

Thanks! I am going to get FDRS this weekend for my brothers 2020 F450 as it has a lot of updates to do and no doubt will not be able to resist doing the TRM update!

Frustrated and confused,

I ran the software repair update on my truck through FDRS and everything went fine.

when I got to the SYNC Module (APIM) Software update, and download the software onto an eXfat formatted USB drive and plugged it into the port on the truck, it reads it and starts updating the system fine saying "updating system" but then shows a USB Error… message.

I've tried different thumb drives formatted with the computer I'm running FDRS on and some them say "this USB drive is not supported. The usb drives it does read end up in a USB Error.

Any ideas of what it could be or what I can do to make this APIM software update?
